Luxury Lifestyle Awards have the pleasure of sitting down with Salvador Gutierrez, the Hotel Manager of Hilton Cancun, a resort recently crowned as one of the TOP 100 Hotels and  Resorts of the World, 2023 As we delve into this conversation, we aim to unveil the unique features that make Hilton Cancun an exceptional destination, catering to the diverse interests and desires of its guests. 

Luxury Lifestyle Awards: It is an absolute pleasure to meet with you today, Mr. Salvador Gutierrez. Thank you for taking the time to chat with us. 

LLA: Congratulations on being named among the TOP 100 Hotels and Resorts of the World. Can you share what this prestigious title means for Hilton Cancun and its guests?

SG: Thank you so much! We are humbled and honored by this recognition. Our resort is still quite new, we opened 2 years ago, so getting this award for the second in a row year is absolutely incredible.  

LLA: Hilton Cancun is celebrated for its elevated F&B experience. How does the culinary aspect contribute to the overall luxury and appeal of the resort?

SG: It is key in the luxury experience for our guests. All-inclusive hotels are not usually known for their F&B offerings, but it’s not the case with Hilton Cancun. We take pride in our elevated experience. For example, La Luce is our Italian restaurant and we have won awards for it. We also offer a steak restaurant, a Mexican one, a South Asian and a Buffet, And the best part of it, is that is not open to the regular audience. You need to stay at Hilton Cancun to experience our restaurants, that’s truly exclusive.

LLA: The resort emphasizes activities for kids to connect with Mexican and Mayan culture. How do these unique experiences enhance the family-friendly atmosphere of Hilton Cancun?

SG: It is crucial for kids to understand the Mexican and Mayan cultures, but to do it with the family is even better. We love to create long-lasting memories and we are thrilled to learn that long after they leave our property, kids still talk about their experience at our resort.

LLA: Situated in a protected area, guests can learn about local flora and fauna. How does Hilton Cancun balance luxury with a commitment to environmental preservation?

SG: Both go hand in hand, it’s a luxury for us all to be located between a protected mangrove area and the second-largest coral reef in the world. We get to see when turtles come to the shore during nesting season, we are able to experience the unique flora and fauna of the environment and we get to teach the importance of our location and all we do to protect them.

LLA: The resort offers an innovative easy-go band bracelet for guests. How does this technology enhance the guest experience and set Hilton Cancun apart from other luxury resorts?

SG: This bracelet is one of a kind. First of all, it allows you to access your room without needing a key card. So you don’t need to worry about that, you can always access your room with an easy-go band.  

Then it allows you to scan a QR code which takes you to our web app. In there, you can view all the hotel information: entertainment activities, resort map, restaurant menus, etc. But it also allows you to order room service or book any restaurant you’d like to try.  

LLA: Can you tell us about the inspiration behind the design and cultural elements incorporated into Hilton Cancun, creating an authentic experience for guests?

SG: The hotel was designed by HBA San Francisco. They incorporated many elements in the decoration that honors the Mexican heritage. You can see benches at Maxal’s entrance, they look like crocodiles or the tapestry in the hallways. You know you’re in Mexico by looking at our property.

LLA: Hilton Cancun is known for its two infinity pools overlooking the Caribbean Sea. How do these amenities contribute to the overall ambiance and relaxation of the resort?

SG: These pools are vital and are available for all tastes. One is located in the family area, which is right next to the splash pool. This area is full of energy, with lots of games and for people that want to be entertained. The other one is located in the Chill area, which as its name references, it’s much calmer. So, if you go to the latter one, you want to relax and hear the sound of the birds and the ocean.

LLA: The resort provides a web app for guests to plan and book culinary experiences. How does technology play a role in personalizing the guest journey at Hilton Cancun?

SG: As we mentioned before, it allows you to skip direct contact with our concierge and book it yourself. You can navigate through the options, see the menu, and choose the restaurant and the time you’d like to have dinner.

LLA: In response to the recognition, you mentioned a commitment to exceeding guest expectations. How does Hilton Cancun consistently deliver exceptional and unforgettable experiences?

SG: It’s all about service. Our staff goes out of their way in order to make our guests feel special, to personalize their service, and to feel at home.  

LLA: The Tequila tasting experience is a unique offering. How do these distinctive activities contribute to creating lasting memories for the guests?

SG: These activities are vital for our property. It allows them to connect with the ambiance, our culture, and our service and allows them to learn and feel part of the experience.

LLA: Can you share some insights into the cultural immersion guests can experience at Hilton Cancun, particularly in connection with the local Mexican and Mayan cultures?

SG:  In our kids and teens club we teach them how to make dreamcatchers, piñatas and also we prepare Spanish lessons. We also have our “Sabor a Mexico” festival,  in which we show our traditions.  

LLA: Looking forward, how does Hilton Cancun plan to build upon this recognition and continue setting new standards in luxury hospitality?

SG: We have many new ideas to surprise and recognize our guests. We’re just getting started!
