As the recipient of the Luxury Lifestyle Awards title of Best Luxury Style Consultancy and Academy in the United Kingdom for 2026, Isobel continues to shape conversations around contemporary luxury styling and image distinction.
The conversation is guided by Alexander Chetchikov, President of the World Luxury Chamber of Commerce and long-time leader of the Luxury Lifestyle Awards.

Alexander Chetchikov: Congratulations on your wonderful achievement, Isobel! With more than 35 years of experience in the fashion and styling industry, how has your definition of luxury styling evolved throughout your career?
Isobel Kershaw: When I first entered the fashion industry over 35 years ago, luxury was often defined by the label, the price point and access to exclusive products. Having worked with luxury brands, designers and retailers throughout my career, including my years at Harrods, I was immersed in a world where luxury was largely associated with craftsmanship, heritage and aspiration.
Today, whilst those elements remain important, I believe true luxury styling goes far beyond what someone wears. Luxury is about how a person feels, how they present themselves and the confidence they project through every interaction. It is the art of aligning personal style with identity, lifestyle, ambition and presence.
As a stylist, I am less interested in creating wardrobes that simply look expensive and more interested in helping clients develop a powerful visual language that communicates who they are before they speak. Luxury styling is about refinement, authenticity and intention. It is understanding the psychology of clothing, the impact of colour, proportion and non-verbal communication, and using these tools strategically to create influence and confidence.
The greatest shift I have seen is that luxury has become increasingly personal. The most stylish individuals are no longer those who follow trends or wear the most recognisable brands, but those who understand themselves and dress with clarity, purpose and individuality. That, to me, is the true definition of luxury styling today.
AC: What inspired you to establish The Stylist London, and what principles continue to guide the business today?
IK: I established The Stylist London because not only did I see a gap in the market for a more strategic and transformational approach to styling, but I knew I could launch a styling business built on true expertise and knowledge of the fashion industry, quite unique skills to this market. Too often, styling was being viewed simply as shopping or following trends, when in reality it has the power to influence confidence, performance and how people are perceived.
After building my career in fashion, luxury retail and styling, I wanted to create a business that combined style expertise with the psychology of clothing and non-verbal communication. My guiding principle has always been: never underestimate the psychology of clothing.
Today, The Stylist London continues to be guided by excellence, authenticity and education. Whether working with private clients, luxury brands or training the next generation of stylists through the academy, the focus remains the same: helping people use style as a powerful tool to elevate their presence, confidence and success.

AC: Personalization is central to your approach. How do you ensure that every client experience remains individual and relevant?
IK: Personalisation is at the heart of everything I do because no two clients are the same. I don’t believe in formulas, trends or one-size-fits-all solutions. Every client arrives with their own lifestyle, ambitions, challenges and relationship with clothing.
My role is to understand the person behind the wardrobe. I spend time uncovering who they are, how they want to be perceived and what they need their style to achieve for them. From there, I create a tailored strategy that reflects their personality, profession, lifestyle and aspirations.
The key is listening. Style should never be about imposing an aesthetic on someone; it should be about helping them become the most confident and authentic version of themselves. When that happens, the results feel relevant, effortless and entirely unique to the individual.
AC: Through the Global Style Academy, you have helped develop stylists around the world. What qualities do you believe are most important for the next generation of styling professionals?
IK: The next generation of styling professionals needs far more than a good eye for fashion. Style can be taught, but professionalism, integrity and the ability to build trust are what create a lasting career.
I believe the most successful stylists will be those who are genuinely curious about people, understand the psychology behind clothing and recognise that styling is about transformation rather than simply selecting outfits. Strong communication skills, emotional intelligence and the ability to adapt to different clients and cultures are essential in today’s global market.
Most importantly, I encourage stylists to develop their own point of view. The industry does not need more people copying trends or each other; it needs confident professionals who can think independently, lead with authenticity and deliver a truly personalised experience. Those are the qualities that will set the future leaders of our industry apart.

AC: How do presentation skills and personal branding influence professional success in today’s business environment?
IK: Presentation skills and personal branding are two of the most powerful tools for professional success because they shape how others perceive your expertise, credibility and leadership potential.
Personal branding ensures that your appearance, behaviour and communication are aligned with the reputation you want to build. Equally important is the ability to present yourself confidently when speaking to others, whether in a meeting, on a stage, during a media interview or while pitching an idea. The ability to communicate with clarity, conviction and authenticity can often be the difference between being remembered and being overlooked.
I often say that style is only one part of the equation. How you speak, engage an audience and convey your message is just as important as how you look. When strong presentation skills are combined with a clear personal brand, they create influence, build trust and open doors to opportunities that might otherwise be missed.
AC: Luxury clients increasingly seek authenticity alongside expertise. How do you balance these expectations within your work?
IK: I believe authenticity and expertise should go hand in hand. Today’s luxury client is incredibly discerning; they are not just investing in a service, they are investing in the person behind it.
My expertise comes from over 35 years in the fashion industry, working across luxury retail, styling, training and coaching. However, what clients often value most is that I bring that experience in a way that is genuine, relatable and tailored to them as individuals.
I never believe in creating a transactional experience. I take the time to understand my clients, their goals and their lifestyle, and I offer honest guidance based on what will genuinely serve them rather than what is simply fashionable or expected. Luxury today is about trust, personal connection and exceptional standards of service. By combining deep expertise with authenticity, I create experiences that feel both highly professional and deeply personal.

AC: As a keynote speaker and trainer, what are some of the most significant shifts you have observed in the luxury styling sector over recent years?
IK: One of the most significant shifts I have observed is the move away from styling being viewed purely as a fashion service towards it being recognised as a strategic tool for personal and professional success.
Clients today are far more interested in authenticity, personal branding and the psychology behind how they present themselves. They want their style to reflect who they are, support their ambitions and communicate credibility, rather than simply follow trends or wear designer labels.
I have also seen a growing demand for education within the industry. Stylists are seeking deeper knowledge in areas such as colour psychology, non-verbal communication, luxury service standards and personal branding, recognising that modern styling extends far beyond clothing.
At the luxury end of the market, there is also a greater appreciation for individuality. Clients are becoming more selective and are looking for highly personalised experiences rather than formulaic styling approaches. Luxury today is less about status and more about refinement, confidence and creating a distinctive presence that feels authentic to the individual.
AC: Looking ahead, what opportunities do you see for The Stylist London and the wider luxury styling industry on a global scale?
IK: For The Stylist London, my vision is to continue expanding our global reach through the academy, corporate training programs and partnerships with luxury brands, hospitality groups and organisations that recognise the value of presentation, personal branding and non-verbal communication.
One of the most exciting developments has been the creation of The Stylist Retreat. In April 2026, I hosted the inaugural retreat in the beautiful setting of Rapallo and Portofino, bringing together an inspiring group of stylists and fashion professionals for an immersive luxury experience. I have always felt a strong sense of responsibility towards nurturing the next generation of talent and have naturally found myself moving into a more matriarchal leadership role within the industry. With a creative mind that rarely rests, I wanted to create something truly exceptional—an environment where ambitious professionals could learn, collaborate, build meaningful relationships and elevate their careers within a luxury setting.
I am also in the process of launching The 1% Club, an exclusive membership designed for stylists who aspire to operate at the highest level of the profession. The concept is centred around providing insight, mentorship and access to the standards, mindset and behaviours required to stand out within the luxury sector and position oneself within the top tier of professional stylists.
For the wider industry, I see styling becoming increasingly respected as a profession that extends far beyond fashion. As the worlds of luxury, personal branding and professional development continue to converge, stylists have an opportunity to position themselves as trusted advisors who help individuals and businesses communicate their value more effectively.

Thank you, Isobel, for sharing your insights and perspectives with us. We appreciate your contribution to the ongoing evolution of luxury styling, image consultancy, and professional development.
