Eco-id Architects has been recognized by Luxury Lifestyle Awards in the category Best Luxury Sustainable Resort Architecture for Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island in the Seychelles, highlighting the firm’s approach to architecture that connects luxury hospitality with environmental sensitivity and a strong sense of place.

Established in 1996, Eco-id is a renowned Singapore-based architecture and interior design practice with experience across resorts, hotels, and residential projects. Its international portfolio extends across destinations including Seychelles, Maldives, Singapore, China, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Zanzibar and beyond. The firm approaches each project individually, developing design responses around the client’s vision, the surrounding environment, and the intended experience.

Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island is a completed new-build resort on Platte Island, Seychelles, developed between August 2017 and January 2024. Located 130 kilometers south of Mahé, the project draws architectural inspiration from the island’s flora and fauna. Faceted forms across the arrival building, resort center, and villas reference the colors and patterns of native Hawksbill turtle shells, while the villas are positioned away from the shoreline and surrounded by expansive gardens intended to provide space for nesting sea turtles.

Environmental considerations are integrated throughout the resort’s design and operation. Solar energy supplies 95% of its energy needs, supported by measures including water recycling, energy-efficient lighting, waste management, solar-powered hot water, and waste recycling. Material choices include synthetic weaves made from PET, bamboo cladding, and eco-friendly decking, while handcrafted details such as seashell curtains and driftwood artwork establish a closer connection between the built environment and the island’s natural character.
