In the world of interior design, where every detail speaks volumes about the spirit of a space, MoreIn Interior Design has established itself as a frontrunner. Their recent accolade—the 2024 Luxury Lifestyle Awards for Best Luxury Residential Interior Design in Taiwan—attests to their passion for creating spaces that not only meet the functional needs of their clients but also reflect their deepest desires and aspirations. The winning project, Luxury Mindset, located in New Taipei City, Taiwan, proves the firm’s ability to transform an aging apartment into a sanctuary of tranquility and luxury.
A Philosophy of Design
MoreIn Interior Design operates under a unique design philosophy: true design breathes life into spaces when it faithfully mirrors the brand’s essence or the homeowner’s personality and lifestyle. This guiding principle, encapsulated in their motto, “When a design faithfully reflects the spirit of the brand or the personality and life of the homeowner can it be given life,” underscores their approach to every project. This philosophy is brought to life by the firm’s attention to detail and dedication to their craft, where each project is treated with the same level of care and precision as a piece of fine art.
Leading MoreIn Interior Design is Design Director Kao Shih Chieh, a visionary recognized as one of the top 40 young designers in the cross-strait and four regions. Selected among more than a thousand emerging design talents, Kao Shih Chieh’s leadership is marked by a relentless pursuit of design distinction, grounded in the belief that design can enhance the world through altruistic and common good intentions. This ethos is evident in the way MoreIn approaches each project, exploring the intricate relationships between space, objects, and people to create environments that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also deeply meaningful.
The Luxury Mindset Project
The Luxury Mindset project is a prime example of MoreIn Interior Design’s philosophy in action. This renovation project involved a 20-year-old, 188-square-meter apartment that was reimagined to suit the lifestyle of a couple and their two adult daughters. The primary challenge lay in narrating a unique story and reflecting the core spirit of the family through the design of the space. MoreIn’s approach to this challenge was nothing short of transformative.
Advocating the concept of “Luxury from the Heart,” the design reallocated more than half of the apartment’s floor space to public areas. This strategic reconfiguration allowed for the creation of an open, airy environment where light and space flow effortlessly. The client’s brief called for a design that would adjust the proportions and locations of public and private areas while creating a dedicated worship area that benefits from better lighting. In response, the front balcony, which receives ample natural light and ventilation, was designated as this worship area—a space elevated to evoke a sense of sanctity and independence. This area is separated from the public domain by a dark wooden walkway symbolizing flowing water, which guides the transition from the living and dining rooms to the private spaces of the home.
The design faultlessly integrates elements of nature into the interiors. The use of layered black, white, and gray tones, complemented by wooden materials, reflects the homeowners’ faith in simplicity. These elements are artfully combined to create a serene atmosphere that aligns with the concept of “Luxury from the Heart.” The design incorporates elements of forests, distant mountains, and flowing water into the ceiling, floor, and walls, fostering a sense of connection to the natural world while offering a tranquil retreat from the bustle of everyday life.
Innovative Design Solutions
One of the standout features of the Luxury Mindset project is the innovative use of space. The original layout of the apartment did not align with the living needs of the family. By reallocating floor space and maximizing the public domain, MoreIn was able to create an open-plan layout that enhances both functionality and aesthetic appeal. Irregular beams and columns were skillfully integrated into softly contoured ceilings and simple storage cabinets, maintaining a base tone of black, gray, white, and wood colors. This design approach creates a warm and natural feel that is both welcoming and sophisticated.
The elevated design of the worship area, with dark wooden strips on the floor serving as a boundary, is another highlight of the project. This subtle yet powerful design choice underscores the sanctity of the space while also guiding the flow between the public and private domains of the home. In the private areas, the master bedroom for the couple and the rooms for the two daughters were carefully planned and aesthetically presented to meet the individual needs of each family member, ensuring that the design is both functional and deeply personal.
Comprehensive Service Process
MoreIn Interior Design’s merit is evident not only in their design philosophy but also in their thoughtful service process, which is designed to ensure that every project meets the highest standards of quality and client satisfaction. The process begins with an initial contact and survey, followed by a detailed planning proposal. Once the design commission is agreed upon, the design is deepened and detailed, followed by a thorough budget analysis. The project is then appointed and constructed, with MoreIn overseeing every stage to ensure flawless execution. The process culminates in the delivery of the completed project, followed by a warranty and maintenance period to ensure lasting satisfaction.

MoreIn Interior Design’s work has not only won them the revered Luxury Lifestyle Awards in 2024 but has also garnered numerous other accolades over the years, including the 2023 LICC Award, 2022 Australian Good Design Award, 2021 IF Design Award, and 2020 German Award.
