Mr. Andrew Tan You Yuan. the Hotel General Manager of Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore has been recognized as one of Luxury Lifestyle Awards’ TOP 100 Hotel General Managers 2025.
Andrew Tan You Yuan is one of the region’s most accomplished hospitality leaders, with more than 30 years of international experience spanning the UK, China, Malaysia, and Singapore. His extensive background across food and beverage, catering, accommodation, and commercial strategy has shaped a leadership approach grounded in operational excellence, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to people. Guided by the belief that “hospitality is, above all, a people industry, built on warmth, heart, and exceptional service,” Andrew’s philosophy has become a defining hallmark of his career.
As General Manager of the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore, the flagship property of Millennium Hotels and Resorts, Andrew oversees a large-scale operation encompassing 573 guestrooms, four restaurants, and 33 meeting spaces across 67,000 sq. ft. Under his stewardship, the hotel has solidified its status as one of Singapore’s most versatile urban waterfront destinations, known for its expansive MICE capabilities, contemporary design, and thoughtfully curated guest experiences.
Andrew played a central role in the hotel’s S$40 million transformation, completed in July 2023. His oversight of the redesign, spanning guestrooms, suites, public areas, and conference facilities, delivered immediate impact. Within just five months, room revenue rose 10%, catering revenue surged 85%, and total revenue climbed 23% compared to the previous year. By 2024, the hotel achieved remarkable year-on-year gains: S$10.7 million in additional room revenue, S$8.5 million in catering growth, and total revenue reaching S$67.3 million, one of the strongest financial performances in its history.
A champion of talent development, Andrew empowers his teams through trust, continuous learning, and a “yes, can-do” mindset. His structured employee recognition programmes, targeted commercial strategies, and deep financial acumen have consistently translated into record-breaking performance and market leadership.
Forward-thinking and sustainability-driven, he has introduced pioneering initiatives such as Singapore’s first in-room filtered water systems, significantly reducing plastic waste, and the integration of robotics and automation in F&B to enhance efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
