Since its rejuvenation in 2020, the hotel has embraced a holistic approach to sustainability, focusing on energy and water conservation, waste management, and reducing carbon emissions. Notably, the transformation avoided 51,300 metric tonnes of carbon emissions, equivalent to preserving 8.7 million trees. Central to its green initiatives are the iconic 13-metre-tall Green Wall and the expansive indoor atrium designed by John Portman, offering guests a unique “Garden-in-a-Hotel” experience with over 2,400 plants that naturally purify the air.

In March 2022, the installation of 210 rooftop solar panels marked a significant step towards renewable energy, generating over 350kWh daily and reducing the hotel’s electrical consumption. Additionally, the hotel’s innovative rainwater harvesting system and urban farm—housing over 60 varieties of flora—emphasize its commitment to food supply resilience and sustainability.
