Mövenpick Resort Sharm El Sheikh combines five-star hospitality with a long-term commitment to sustainable tourism, environmental stewardship and responsible luxury hospitality. Overlooking Naama Bay and the Red Sea, the resort recognizes the importance of protecting the region’s exceptional marine and coastal ecosystem while delivering memorable experiences across its 298 Arabian-style rooms and villas.
As a Green Globe Platinum Certified resort, Mövenpick Resort Sharm El Sheikh has maintained Green Globe certification for 12 consecutive years. Its sustainability strategy focuses on energy efficiency, water conservation, waste reduction, responsible procurement and biodiversity protection. Electricity and water consumption are continuously monitored, while LED lighting, energy-efficient equipment, water-saving technologies, optimized irrigation and climate-appropriate landscaping help improve resource efficiency.
A standout example of the resort’s circular economy approach is the Second Life Glass Initiative, introduced during its room renovation programme in 2025. Rather than disposing of existing tempered shower glass doors, the resort repurposed 160 panels into permanent outdoor safety fencing. Approximately 6.5 tonnes of glass were diverted from landfill, an estimated 7.8 tonnes of CO₂e emissions were avoided, and approximately EGP 1.6 million in material procurement costs were saved.
The resort also advances sustainable hospitality in Sharm El Sheikh through waste segregation and recycling, reduced single-use plastics, responsible food management, sustainable sourcing and guest and employee environmental awareness. Future initiatives include carbon-scored menus, paperless check-in, expanded recycling, a 2.5-hectare organic farm and further reductions in energy, water and food waste.
Community responsibility complements these environmental efforts through surplus food donations, local training opportunities, support for Bedouin handicrafts and olive tree planting. Together, these initiatives position Mövenpick Resort Sharm El Sheikh as a leading example of sustainable luxury accommodation in Egypt, where Red Sea hospitality, environmental responsibility and positive community impact are integrated into the guest experience.
