Twelve at Hengshan

Twelve at Hengshan, a Luxury Collection Hotel, is a modern-Chinoiserie hotel on Shanghai’s historic, tree-lined Hengshan Road. With its modern-Chinoisserie design, latest contemporary amenities and nature-inspired Zen ambience, it promises an exclusive oasis of urban chic in the heart of China’s most cosmopolitan city.

The new-build hotel is a creation of Italian architect Mario Botta. The fa?ade is dressed in more than 20,000 natural terracotta tiles imported from Italy, a popular trimming on many of the historic buildings in the area. At the heart of the hotel, a traditional Chinese Atrium Garden for hotel guests enhances Twelve at Hengshan’s unique character and soothing Zen ambience.

The distinctive interiors are by New York-based cult hospitality design duo Yabu Pushelberg. The romantic design mixes cultures and timelines in an East meets West, Past meets Present style. A soft, natural colour palette is offset by bespoke Chinese and contemporary furnishings, hand-painted Oriental screens, and soothing garden motifs in the guestrooms.

171 guestrooms in various sizes starting from 40 square metres, including 125 rooms, 10 PURE rooms, 35 suites plus a 338 sqm Presidential Suite. The Courtyard Room featuring large windows overlooking the Atrium Garden are the only five-star rooms in downtown Shanghai with private balcony access.

There are two different restaurants in Twelve at Hengshan, a Luxury Collection Hotel. Tops & Terrace is the All-day brasserie which serves European cuisines complemented by Asian classics on its refined a la carte menu and extravagant weekend dinner buffet. The fifth-floor Roof Terrace is a local hotspot with a barbecue and gazebo for alfresco wining and dining.

Twelve Hengshan is a signature Chinese restaurant which serves Cantonese and Shanghainese cuisines highlighting organic ingredients. The elegant main dining room looks out to a Suzhou-styled garden. There are also eight Private Dining suites seating up to 16 people.

In addition, Lobby Lounge is an inviting meeting and relaxation space serving fresh-brewed teas, juices and wines, accompanied by creative local and western bites.

The facilities of the hotel are mentionable. The Atrium Garden is hidden in the center of the hotel, the garden is a tranquil oasis away from the city featuring flowing streams and imported trees.

The 290 sqm Fitness Center opens 24 hours with floor to ceiling windows looking across the Swimming pool. The large indoor pool itself has three Jacuzzis and is lit by natural light from the Garden. Sauna area includes a Tepidarium, a Salt Stone BIO Sauna Room, an Herbal Steam Room, an Experience Shower Room and Ice Fountain, etc.

Our hotel has 1303 sqm of events space, including a 425 sqm Grand Ballroom that seats up to 220 in Round Table setup, Pre-function Area and five Meeting Rooms, all equipped with high-tech facilities.
