Altro_Studio is an interdisciplinary architecture and design practice founded in 1998 by a collective committed to exploring innovative spatial solutions. From its inception, the studio has focused on the concept of movement within living environments, investigating how spaces can evolve to meet the changing needs of individuals. Its work spans a wide spectrum, from temporary housing solutions to large-scale urban developments, all rooted in the principles of flexibility, transformability, and ecological responsibility.

The studio’s research-driven approach emphasizes the integration of advanced technologies—particularly automated systems—and the use of innovative, sustainable materials. Altro_Studio consistently addresses environmental challenges while redefining functional and structural living standards, creating adaptable spaces that respond to modern lifestyles.

A defining example of this philosophy is the award-winning project La Casa di Sabrina in southwest Rome, recipient of the Luxury Lifestyle Award for Best Contemporary Apartment Interior Design. Located in a 1950s building, the project preserves the original character of the apartment while reinterpreting it through a contemporary lens. Key historical elements, such as the rare green alpine marble flooring and mahogany wood finishes, are carefully restored, adapted, and integrated into the new design.

The project features a seamless spatial flow, with vertical wall planes incorporating continuous design elements like suspended ebony furniture and elevated parquet platforms. Contrasting tones of white-grey walls, mahogany, and ebony define the interiors, while custom-designed furniture enhances coherence and craftsmanship. Glass openings create visual continuity between the kitchen and living areas, intersecting with a sculptural staircase featuring a self-supporting iron structure and hexagonal railing.

Altro_Studio’s work stands out for its holistic approach—from conceptual vision to detailed execution—combining fine natural materials, bespoke furniture design, and innovative spatial strategies to create refined, sustainable living environments.
