The firm values communication as a critical tool for identifying challenges, and design as the creative solution to solving them. By focusing on the planning stages—analyzing usability, rationality, and business feasibility—Mind Architects creates spaces that are both functional and meaningful, maximizing the true essence of architecture beyond mere aesthetics.
Their award-winning project, Haegrida, which recently won Best Luxury Small Commercial Architecture, is located in Minrak-dong, Busan, South Korea, and reflects this philosophy. The site, with views of the Suyeong River and Baeksan Mountain, offered a unique opportunity to harmonize nature with architecture. Responding to the client’s desire to maximize the borrowed landscape of the surrounding scenery, Mind Architects introduced a variety of spaces, which included segmented interiors, verandas, outdoor rooftops, and connecting stairs, allowing seamless interaction between the indoor and outdoor environments.
A standout feature of Haegrida is its adaptability. Mind Architects designed the wedding hall, one of the main program components, to be versatile. In response to Korea’s cultural trends and customs, where weddings are not frequent during weekdays, the space can be transformed into a café, conference hall, or rental venue during off-peak times. From concept to completion, Mind Architects carefully managed every aspect, ensuring that the project was not only visually stunning but also practical, flexible, and sustainable for long-term use.
