Viridis Development Partners has been recognised by Luxury Lifestyle Awards with two distinctions: Best Luxury Sustainable Real Estate Developer in Portugal and Best Luxury Sustainable Residential Development in Portugal for its flagship project, Encosta da Luz.

Established in 2015 and headquartered in Lagos, Algarve, Viridis Development Partners specializes in residential real estate development centered on modern, eco-conscious living. The company adopts a bespoke approach, with each villa thoughtfully designed around the specific needs, lifestyle and preferences of its owners.

Sustainability informs practical decisions across materials, construction methods and long-term operational efficiency. The company prioritizes renewable and locally sourced materials — including cork-based insulation composites — alongside rainwater capture, water recycling systems, energy-efficient building solutions and low-maintenance landscaping designed to minimize water consumption.

Encosta da Luz, the award-winning residential development referenced in this recognition, presented technically complex site conditions due to its hillside location. Careful planning was required to maximize sea views for each villa while preserving privacy, architectural cohesion and sensitivity to the surrounding landscape.

Infrastructure development began in 2019, with the first villa sold in 2021. Seven of the eight villas have since been sold, with the remaining homes currently under construction. The project incorporates steel-frame structural systems, high-performance insulation achieving A+ energy ratings, solar panels for electricity generation and hot water, rainwater harvesting for irrigation, and design measures intended to reduce long-term resource consumption — including carefully scaled pools and low-water landscaping.

The architectural and interior design vision was led by Mario Martins. Construction is delivered by BGE, while ten Hoopen Realty serves as the exclusive sales and marketing brokerage.
