More often than not, the luxury car that everyone wants isn’t the most expensive one, but the most well-rounded one that also fits perfectly into its chosen niche. The Tesla Model S, for example, starts at only $90,000, according to their official website. This may seem like a fortune to most, but it is still a far cry from the most expensive luxury cars. Still, the Model S is the most sought-after car in the world, if search engine data is to be believed. To understand the reason why, let’s delve into the three most desired cars on Earth right now, and see what makes them great.
The 2022 Tesla Model S
The Tesla Model S is touted as the vanguard of the steady march towards fully electric, zero-emission vehicles, and it doesn’t enjoy this amount of prestige without reason. Whatever anyone might say about Tesla’s products, the Model S certainly pushes the envelope in terms of what EVs can achieve, both in performance and quality of life, and the 2022 iteration of the car exemplifies that still.
The next generation of the Tesla Model S is going to have up to 412 miles (663km) of range on a single charge, putting it on equal footing with the most efficient fossil fuel cars. The supercharged Plaid version can even deliver stunning accelerations of up to 0-60mph (about 100 km/h) in under 2 seconds. Both the Plaid and the regular Model S come equipped with Tesla’s renowned semi-autonomous driving feature, as well as its formidable safety and infotainment suite. All this tech set against Tesla’s trademark minimalist yet luxurious interior is sure to impress both Tesla fans and autophiles alike. And if that’s not enough, it’s got a deceptively spacious 26 cubic-foot trunk, plus a smaller one in front in case you need extra storage.
Audi’s R8 supercar
The emblem of Audi’s charge into the world of supercars, the R8 is regarded by many as one of the most well-engineered cars in history. Powered by the 602hp V-10 engine, fitted with state-of-the-art tech, and with numerous speed-focused upgrades available, this technological paragon is the perfect marriage of form and function. At its base state, its pristine refinement makes it perfect as both a sports car and a daily-use vehicle. However, this easy handling can make the R8 strike some as boring to drive. Still, its adaptability means that it’s excellent for those who feel like driving their luxury sports car everywhere, even to work.
Whether or not it may seem boring to you, the R8’s storied history tells us that its performance and reliability are world-class. It was built from the ground up to carry this tradition, hence the inclination towards a coupe-based design. This means that it has a sporty and compact look, and the myriad minor features are all meant to increase its raw power output and endurance. The interior is refreshingly minimalist, with the virtual cockpit gauge display doing most of the heavy lifting in the way of infotainment and assistance. Coupled with this quality-over-quantity focused set of interior gadgetry, the R8 still maintains its place as an all-around sports car that is useful in a wide array of situations.
The BMW X7 SUV
The 2021 iteration of BMW’s X7 line can only be described as bigger and better. BMW outdid themselves with the performance enhancement on this beast, pulling 335 horsepower despite its size, with a possible V8 upgrade reaching up to a whopping 612 hp. Inside this blisteringly fast behemoth, you’ll find a mesmerizingly comfortable cabin, complete with heated chairs, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, and generous storage.
As with any SUV, the interior is packed with gadgetry, including a fully digital gauge display, and a massive 12-inch infotainment screen that accepts gesture controls as well as touch. Its high-tech features are too extensive to fully list, but its most notable inclusions are its built-in wireless charger, 10-speaker surround sound, and a seamless, comprehensive navigation system.
Each of these cars fulfil a role in the world of automobiles that few others can attempt with comparable competence. Their excellence in what they set out to do is what makes them sought-after, and what establishes their status as luxury vehicles.
