The reopening of the iconic hotel at Cota 1400 in Sinaia marks one of the most significant developments in Romanian mountain tourism in recent decades. The story of Cota 1400 begins in the early 1930s, when the Romanian state commissioned a sanatorium designed to serve the medical needs of the era. The building was completed in 1939, originally known as Euforia Spitalelor Române, and was protected during World War II due to its medical function.
After the war, in 1947, the sanatorium was transformed into a hotel and renamed Hotel Alpin. Over the following decades, it became one of the most recognizable mountain destinations in Romania. Its altitude, panoramic views over the Prahova Valley, and proximity to the Bucegi trails made it a favorite among tourists, athletes, and public figures.
During the communist period, Hotel Alpin was considered a flagship property of Romanian mountain tourism. After 1989, however, the building gradually deteriorated, undergoing partial
renovations in the early 2000s but never regaining its former prestige.
The recent redevelopment of the hotel represents a complete architectural and functional transformation. The project preserved key structural and aesthetic elements of the original building while introducing a modern alpine-chalet design aligned with Radisson Blu’s international standards.
The new hotel features 68 rooms, including junior suites and two presidential suites, many offering terraces or balconies with sweeping mountain views. Natural materials such as stone and wood were used extensively to maintain harmony with the surrounding landscape.
The revitalized Cota 1400 hotel introduces a wide range of high-end facilities:

· indoor pool, hammam, Moroccan spa, jacuzzi

· lobby lounge and cigar bar
· après-ski lounge
· conference rooms with mountain-view terraces

These amenities position the hotel as one of the most advanced mountain hospitality projects in Romania.
With its reopening, the hotel becomes the first internationally branded property in Romania located at such a high altitude. This milestone elevates the region’s tourism profile and aligns Sinaia with European mountain destinations known for premium hospitality.
Room rates range between €204 and €597 per night, with promotional discounts available during the launch period.
