Part of Sunway Hospitality Group, The Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat is set within a 22.7-acre valley surrounded by 260-million-year-old limestone hills, rainforest, and geothermal springs in Ipoh, Malaysia. Since opening in 2010, the retreat has developed a wellness-focused hospitality experience shaped by its extraordinary natural setting, combining luxury hospitality with initiatives designed to encourage environmental awareness and responsible travel.

Introduced in 2026 by Sunway Hospitality Group, a member of GHA DISCOVERY, in partnership with Saxon Renewables, the Carbon Offset Stay Programme invites guests to make a voluntary contribution during their stay. These collective contributions support four internationally verified climate action projects: the Katingan Peatland Restoration and Conservation Project in Indonesia; the Kuamut Rainforest Conservation Project in Malaysia; the Reduced Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation initiative in Cambodia’s Keo Seima Wildlife Sanctuary; and the Saxon EVolve Program – EV Charging System Grouped Project in Malaysia.

The initiative reflects the retreat’s objective of connecting guest participation with broader environmental efforts. By supporting projects focused on rainforest conservation, wildlife protection, emissions reduction, and sustainable infrastructure, The Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat extends its sustainability efforts beyond the property itself while encouraging guests to contribute to verified environmental initiatives.
