Pullman Lombok Merujani Mandalika Beach Resort has been recognized by the International Sustainability Awards in 2026 for Exceptional Responsible Hospitality Through Circular Food Waste Management, Organic Food Cultivation, and Garden-to-Table Integration in Indonesia. The recognition reflects an operational approach that connects food waste reduction, organic cultivation, responsible resource use, and community learning within the resort’s hospitality model.

Opened in August 2022 within the ITDC Mandalika Tourism Complex in Lombok, Indonesia, Pullman Lombok Merujani Mandalika Beach Resort brings contemporary premium hospitality together with design influences drawn from the island. Its 257 rooms, suites, and villas overlook the Indian Ocean or resort gardens, while its open reception area takes inspiration from the traditional berugak shelters of the indigenous Sasak people. The resort also features two restaurants, two bars, a spa, a free-form pool, and access to nearby beaches and outdoor activities.

Central to the resort’s sustainability work is its Sustainable Garden-to-Table Project, introduced in June 2024. An important part of this approach is the Waste to Wealth initiative, which transforms resort food waste into Pupuk Organik Cair – Liquid Organic Fertilizer, or POC. The resulting organic fertilizer is used across the resort’s gardens and landscape areas, helping reduce the need for externally sourced fertilizer while returning organic resources to productive use. Vegetables grown in the resort garden are used in its restaurants, connecting waste management, cultivation, and dining through a circular system.

Waste to Wealth also extends beyond the resort’s own operations through collaboration with Bank Sampah Putri Nyale. The initiative supports local-community learning, adding a knowledge-sharing dimension to the resort’s approach to responsible resource management. Together, these efforts demonstrate how practical environmental measures can connect day-to-day hospitality operations with broader community engagement.

The resort monitors its wider sustainability performance through regular GAIA audits covering areas including energy efficiency, waste management, water conservation, and responsible sourcing. Its environmental practices also include EcoBurner technology in food and banquet service, while its sustainability credentials include Green Globe Certification. Looking ahead, the resort plans to expand its organic garden, increase the use of water-saving systems and energy-efficient equipment, and develop further opportunities for guests to engage with responsible tourism.
