Prosun Architects has been recognized by Luxury Lifestyle Awards in 2026 in the category of Best Contemporary Residential Architecture in Canada for Ravine House, a contemporary custom residence in Richmond Hill, Ontario. The recognition highlights an architectural project shaped by an integrated approach to design, interiors, construction, and its relationship with the surrounding ravine landscape.

Prosun Architects Inc. works alongside Prosun Homes Inc. to bring architecture and construction together within one integrated team. The practice provides a full design-build approach in which architecture, interior design, and construction management are coordinated from concept through completion. Its residential work focuses on modern luxury homes defined by architectural clarity, functional planning, material craftsmanship, and close consideration of each client’s lifestyle and site.

Led by Prithula Prosun Roy, an architect licensed with the Ontario Association of Architects, Prosun Architects applies a creative and research-driven approach to residential design. Roy completed her architectural education at the University of Waterloo, graduating from its Master of Architecture program with commendation. Her work has received international recognition, particularly for research in amphibious architecture, and has appeared in leading design publications.

Completed in 2025 following the start of construction in 2024, Ravine House is a new-build single-family residence of approximately 7,800 square feet. The home was conceived as a private retreat that combines architectural presence with warmth, comfort, functionality, and a close connection to nature. Prosun Architects developed the architecture and interiors as a unified composition, coordinating spatial planning, materials, lighting, custom detailing, and landscape relationships throughout the project.

At the center of the residence is a glazed courtyard that introduces daylight, greenery, and seasonal change into the core of the home. A glass bridge crosses the courtyard at the upper level, connecting private spaces while maintaining openness and visual continuity. Floor-to-ceiling glazing, skylights, framed views, and carefully positioned openings extend the relationship with the ravine throughout the interior. The planning supports both everyday family life and larger-scale entertaining, with generous principal living areas balanced by more intimate rooms. The residence includes five bedrooms, an additional guest or flexible bedroom, seven bathrooms, and a five-car garage.

The material language reinforces the project’s contemporary character while grounding it within its natural setting. Natural stone, timber, dark architectural metal, expansive glass, and charred Shou Sugi Ban wood create contrast, texture, and depth. Inside, warm minimalism, natural materials, custom millwork, restrained detailing, and a neutral palette allow daylight, texture, and views to remain central to the experience. Rather than relying on ornamentation, Ravine House expresses luxury through proportion, spatial generosity, craftsmanship, natural light, comfort, and tranquillity.
