SENS, the visionary interior design firm, has received a distinguished Luxury Lifestyle Awards in 2023 for their outstanding work on the Avellana project in Costa Rica’s Peninsula Papagayo. The firm has taken home the award for Best Luxury Villa Interior Design in Costa Rica, solidifying their reputation as a leader in the field of interior design.

With 16 years of exceptional design and a commitment to crafting spaces that tell stories, SENS is the brainchild of founders and directors Mariamalia García and Raquel Fischel, two remarkable women with a passion for creating places where design serves as a portal for storytelling. SENS has successfully extended its design prowess internationally with notable projects in Panama, Bocas del Toro, and Fairfield Marriott in San Salvador.

The Avellana project, which began in 2022 and concluded in 2023, perfectly encapsulates the essence of SENS’ design philosophy. Located in the secluded paradise of Peninsula Papagayo, Costa Rica, Guanacaste, this project narrates a story of ultimate relaxation and barefoot luxury. Imagine days spent on pristine beaches, sipping coffee as the sun sets over the ocean, and evenings filled with delicious meals and the simple pleasures of life.

SENS brings this “tico living” experience to life through their interior design and styling, emphasizing harmonious color palettes inspired by the natural surroundings. The house serves as a canvas for local art curation and wow-factor furniture, creating an atmosphere of effortless comfort and relaxation.

One of the project’s distinctive features is the focus on creating modular spaces that accommodate various activities while maintaining a sense of seamless integration. SENS carefully selected pieces that evoke design and sophistication but still feel casual and versatile, reflecting the relaxed and intimate atmosphere of a beach retreat.

SENS’ contribution to the Avellana project includes FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment) design and selection, as well as OS&E (Operating Supplies and Equipment). Their dedication to using local materials and collaborating with small businesses and artisans has not only enhanced the project but also had a positive impact on environmental sustainability.
