KWA Architects has been recognized by Luxury Lifestyle Awards with Best Contemporary Retail Interior Construction & Fit Out for Sriyani Dress Point, Matale.

KWA Architects is a Sri Lanka, based practice established in 2001, with a portfolio spanning hospitality, mixed-use, retail, commercial, residential, healthcare, office interiors, apartments, multi-residential developments, industrial projects, and conceptual design. The firm’s work is shaped by close collaboration with clients, with layouts, materials, and finishes tailored to project requirements and the character of each site.

For Sriyani Dress Point, Matale, KWA Architects delivered complete architectural and interior design services, including façade refurbishment, interior design, space planning, and design development from concept through implementation. The project redeveloped an existing retail building into a multi-level retail destination with dedicated floors for different product categories, while also accommodating operational and back-of-house functions.

The design draws on Matale’s heritage, referencing the Ādārakoṇḍu motif found in traditional Sri Lankan lacquer work. This influence is expressed through strong vertical lines, geometric compositions, and a vivid yet balanced palette that gives the façade a distinct visual identity. Inside, the design language continues through CNC-cut detailing, geometric counter compositions, and a material palette that combines patterned cement tiles, aluminum elements, gray finishes, and timber textures. Among the project’s defining features is the integration of three façade segments into one cohesive expression, while structural constraints were incorporated into storage and display areas to support functionality and customer movement.
