Javier Llorente: Where Vision Meets Warmth – An Interview by Rhapsody Magazine

Article prepared by our media partner Rhapsody Magazine

Set against the golden hills of Benahavís and the shimmering shores of Marbella, few names resonate with the same grace and credibility as Javier Llorente, Founder & CEO of LLO&CO. Rhapsody Magazine had the pleasure of speaking with Javier, whose path through the realm of luxury real estate is as compelling as the exquisite homes he curates.

Among his exclusive portfolio stands a €30 million front-line beach villa, a true jewel of Marbella’s history where the echoes of flamenco, the spirit of Pablo Picasso, and the city’s rich cultural heritage converge. This iconic property exemplifies Javier’s vision and expertise, making him a leading figure in the world of ultra-luxury real estate in southern Spain.

Javier, before we dive into your stunning properties, tell us a bit about your background. What drew you to real estate?

I have a dual background in law and business, but after a short period practising as a lawyer, I transitioned into international trade within the Food & Beverage sector. What has always driven me is a passion for people, the chance to travel the world, build relationships, and connect with extraordinary individuals.

Through the international network I built over the years, and with the encouragement of my good friend Juan Jesús Navarrete from Grupo Azahar in Valencia, I was introduced to the real estate sector. My first steps were in Valencia, working in the commercial and hospitality divisions.

Since moving to Marbella twelve years ago, I combined both activities until two years ago, when I chose to dedicate myself fully to real estate, specifically the ultra-luxury residential market, which perfectly aligns with my passion for people, travel, and exceptional properties.

Javier, you’ve curated some of the most exquisite properties in Marbella and Benahavís. What’s the first thing you notice when you walk into a villa worth €30 million?

The first thing I notice is the soul of the property. At that level, it’s not just about architecture or finishes, although those are, of course, extraordinary. What truly matters is the emotion the villa transmits when you walk through the door: the light, the sense of space, the views, the atmosphere.

In a €30 million villa, every detail has a purpose, but what distinguishes the truly exceptional homes is how they make you feel. You immediately know whether a property has that rare combination of history, character, and timeless elegance that resonates with the lifestyle of our clients.

When you walk clients through a so unique villas, what’s the moment you know they’re sold?

With ultra-high-end properties, the decision is rarely about numbers,it’s about emotions. I usually know a client is sold the moment the villa stops being “a property” and starts feeling like their home.

It can be something very subtle: the way they pause when they see the view from the terrace, how they imagine a family gathering in the living room, or when they start asking questions about the neighborhood as if they were already living there.

That shift (from observing to envisioning) is the moment I know the villa has captured them.

What’s the most unusual request you’ve received from a client?

In the ultra-luxury market, every client has very personal expectations, so “unusual” can mean many things. For some it might be a request for absolute privacy, for others it could be a home designed around their art collection, or a villa where every room captures the sea views.

What I’ve learned is that at this level, it’s never just about square meters or finishes, it’s about creating a lifestyle that feels completely tailored to them.

You work with ultra-high-net-worth individuals. What do they all have in common?

They value three things above all: discretion, quality, and trust. If you can deliver those, you have a client for life.

You represent some of the most exclusive properties in Marbella and Benahavís. Which locations do you personally consider hidden gems?

I personally love nature, tranquility, and privacy, so some of my favorite hidden gems are in Benahavís and Sotogrande. Areas like El Madroñal and El Herrojo offer stunning landscapes, complete privacy, and a unique sense of calm that you can rarely find elsewhere. Beyond the well-known luxury hot spots, these places truly capture the essence of understated elegance and exclusivity that my clients appreciate.

Let’s switch gears. What’s your guilty pleasure at home?

I have a soft spot for cooking. After a busy day showing properties, I love to unwind by preparing a simple meal for family or friends, it’s relaxing and grounding.

When you’re not selling dream homes, where do you go to recharge?

Just 40 minutes away from Marbella, Ronda captivates me with its energy and magic. Many days I find myself there, enjoying a coffee and watching the sunset over its olive groves.

We are very lucky here, within a two-hour radius, you have incredible destinations like Jerez de la Frontera, Tarifa, and Granada, and a bit further afield, Seville and Córdoba. These places are perfect for a weekend escape, offering culture, history, and a completely different pace from the coast

What’s your comfort food after a long day of negotiations?

One of Spain’s greatest treasures is its gastronomy, and I’m a total fan. If I had to choose a comfort food after a long day, I’d go for something light and fresh fish or seafood, or a simple platter of jamón and cheese, paired with a wine from the Sierra de Málaga or Ronda. It’s simple, local, and absolutely delicious.

Final question: if you weren’t in real estate, what would you be doing?

Anything that allows me to work with people and explore different cultures. My true passion has always been connecting with others and discovering new perspectives, so I’d likely be in a field that combines travel, people, and cultural experiences.
