Luxury Lifestyle Awards: Before we get to questions about your facility, could you tell us about your background prior to Rainbow Hills Golf Club?

Widya Tirta Putra: After graduating from university, I was working in the retail industry from 2009 to 2013, and one day, in 2013, my Cousin, who is the owner of Rainbow Hills, offered me an opportunity in the Rainbow Hills Rejuvenation Program since the club is already more than 20 years old.

LLA: How did your experience with Rainbow Hills Golf Club begin? What attracted you to this job?

WTP: The first time I was introduced, I saw that Rainbow Hills has a stunning design that is challenging in a good way, beautiful, very attractive to the golfers, with the natural scenery condition is impressive compared to the surrounding areas, and I believe this Course has the potential to be one of the Best Golf Course in Indonesia, as well in Asia.

LLA: What are your main responsibilities?

WTP: To maintain and manage the Club professionally and make Rainbow Hills a profitable commercial entity with a team of highly motivated employees working together in a challenging and growing environment to achieve its status as The Best Golf Course in Indonesia.

 LLA: Give us a brief description of the Club. Tell us a little about its history and the main milestones of its development.

WTP: Rainbow Hills is located in Sentul Area; the club was established in 1995. Rainbow Hills Golf Club has a picturesque 27-holes mountain course layout, designed by the internationally recognized J. Michael Poellot Golf Design Group (JMP), with its leading designer Robert Moore Jr.

For the recent renovations, The Rainbow Hills Golf Club rejuvenation plan begins at the end of 2014 to coincide with the opening of Stone Hills Course, which is the latest 9 holes, followed by renovation of 2 previous Mountain and Forest courses, that includes upgrading of the irrigation system, drainage, redo of all the bunkers and bridges, renovating halfway. By the end of 2016, also we opened our new facilities, The Pavilion and Practice Range, and by the end of 2018, we have finished renovating Terrace Restaurant to be more spacious and comfortable to cater to our 27-hole course guests’ capacity. In 2019, we start to renovate our existing Clubhouse facility and adding a new facility in the Club House to provide comfort to our guests.

LLA: What are the main attractions Rainbow Hills Golf Club offers golfers today?

WTP: The Golf Course itself, with the consistency for the quality that we keep to the international standards, along with the design which gives a memorable impression with the beautiful views of the local mountainous terrain.

LLA: How can guests who don’t play golf spend their time at the Club?

WTP: We have Terrace Restaurant, which was renovated last year, a comfortable restaurant area with a semi-outdoor feel that overlooks the view of the golf course and fresh air. The restaurant offers a variety of authentic Indonesian and international menus (Japanese, Korean, Western), equipped with a coffee and snack bar, so it’s suitable for gathering with friends while enjoying the golf scenery.

Practice Range with 24 outdoor bays on grass and 16 covered bays using a dual grass driving mat that made each swing feel soft and reduced the risk of tennis elbow injuries which are usually suffered by the golfers. In addition, our Practice Range is also equipped with a Terrace Bar. This bar has a capacity of 100 seats with a direct view of the whole practice range and the surrounding mountains.

LLA: Rainbow Hills Golf Club offers an abundance of high-end facilities. However, The Pavilion stands out in particular. Please tell us more about its concept and development.

WTP: The pavilion is an exclusive complex of 4 VIP Pavilions with the design resembling those of private villas in Bali with a natural touch and exclusive feel to fulfill the need for luxury and privacy. It was recently opened by the end of last year. Each pavilion is equipped with an exclusive Locker room for a maximum of 20 golfers, a Living room with the view of our beautifully designed golf course and a spacious dining room with an artistically carved door partition perfect to give you a sense of ultimate privacy for meetings or private gatherings.

LLA: How experienced are you as a golfer? What are your favorite parts of the Club’s golf courses?

WTP:  I started playing golf probably five years ago, and until now, I think still need to improve my game. Mostly, I spend my time in management. On occasion, I play when I get invited or check the course conditions.

My favorite part of the Club is at the course, playing golf, and when we know that our guests are satisfied with our course and services.

LLA: What are your basic principles of team management?

WTP: Working together by delegation, responsible and effective communication to become better and improve the capacity. I believe we can achieve more if we work together.

LLA: What are the most challenging things for you in your current position?

WTP: Time management to coordinate within our team and stakeholders in the effort to keep up with our standard quality and service.

LLA: Who makes up the bulk of Rainbow Hills Golf Club’s clientele?

WTP: We are open to the public and mostly Local Golfers, Expatriates, VIPs, and Tourists.

LLA: In 2020, Rainbow Hills Golf Club won the Luxury Lifestyle Awards as one of the best golf clubs in Indonesia. How can you comment on this achievement?

WTP: This is an important and inspiring achievement for our team during this challenging time to consistently deliver the highest standard and be able to achieve our status amongst the top golf courses in Indonesia. These international recognitions will surely be the standard barrier of excellence in the future to come for Rainbow Hills Golf Club.
