TAV Operation Services’ Award-winning Sustainability Initiatives

 

TAV Operation Services has been awarded the 2024 International Sustainability Awards for its innovative and resource-efficient sustainable lounge concept at Izmir Primeclass Lounge. Targeting Izmir, a major passenger traffic hub, TAV Operation Services has been implementing the Micro Waste Management Project and the Tap Water Project to reduce waste and carbon footprint without compromising service quality.

Key Highlights of the Projects:

Micro Waste Management: Upcycling coffee grounds into reusable cups, significantly reducing waste.

Preventing Plastic Pollution: Installing a water purification system to eliminate plastic bottles.

Reducing Carbon Footprint: Regulating food and beverage consumption to minimize environmental impact.

TAV Operation Services plans to expand these projects to all its lounges in Turkey by the end of 2024, later to be followed by its locations worldwide. The company supports upcycling, further maximizing its positive environmental impact.

Since starting these projects, TAV Operation Services has collected over 1450 kg of coffee waste, preventing 1479 kg of CO2e emissions—equivalent to the carbon footprint reduction of 624 liters of gasoline, 735 kg of coal, and 3241 kWh of electricity. TAV Operation Services comprehensive approach to waste management and resource conservation positions it as an industry leader in sustainability.

TAV Operation Services has also raised sustainability awareness among employees and customers through training sessions, efficient processes, marketing campaigns, and updates via social media and internal communication channels. Lounge screens and signage promote these initiatives, with positive feedback from travelers affirming their success.
