Luxury Lifestyle Awards is thrilled to announce Terravita, the innovative Ibiza-based landscape design, architecture, and interior design studio, as a winner in the Best Luxury Landscape Architecture category for their project Can Starla in Ibiza, Spain.

An award-winning Can Starla presented a unique challenge – a contemporary, multi-level home requiring a garden abundant with life. Terravita’s design transformed the space into a verdant paradise, incorporating a variety of zones for relaxation, entertaining, and family fun.  

Respecting Ibiza’s natural beauty, Terravita embraced the existing carob trees, weaving them into a tapestry of color and texture. Lush planting beds filled with purple verbena, golden grasses, and rosemary complemented the native flora, creating a harmonious whole. 

Understanding the client’s desire for a space that could accommodate their young family and a love for entertaining, Terravita’s design incorporated elements for playing, relaxing, and dining. The expansive property in Ibiza now boasts a bespoke play area crafted with natural materials, a large entertaining space, and a calming yoga deck. 

One of the most remarkable aspects of the project is the striking, contemporary pergola, which stands out prominently. It has been seamlessly integrated into the existing house (designed by architect Carlos Rey de Viñas), offering essential shade while also creating captivating graphic shadows on the walls and pathways when the midday sun hits, thereby infusing the space with an artistic touch. 

Terravita’s dedication to sustainability is evident throughout Can Starla. Deep planting beds bursting with color act as living filters, fostering a healthy ecosystem, while the use of native flora like carob trees and water-conscious plants minimizes irrigation needs and ensures the garden flourishes in the Ibiza climate. Their commitment extends beyond planting, incorporating sustainable materials like certified bamboo and pine, and utilizing recycled telegraph posts for the play area and volleyball court, showcasing a holistic approach to eco-friendly design. 

Terravita’s expertise in landscape design is evident in every aspect of Can Starla. From the expansive planting screens concealing the driveway to the rockery and meadow seamlessly integrating with the surrounding landscape, the project embodies a perfect harmony between functionality and aesthetics.
