Luxury Lifestyle Awards is delighted to announce Dawn Christine, Architect PLLC as a winner in the category of Best Luxury Retail Interior Design for their stunning project, Onyx Hair Boutique, located in North Carolina, USA. 

The Luxury Lifestyle Awards celebrate and showcase the pinnacle of achievement within the luxury industry. Receiving this coveted award is a true testament to Dawn Christine, Architect PLLC’s exceptional talent and unwavering dedication to crafting innovative and extraordinary design solutions. 

The Onyx Hair Boutique project presented a unique challenge – transforming a pie-shaped, former frozen yogurt shop into a modern and fluid space that would serve as the salon’s flagship location. Dawn Christine, Architect PLLC rose to the occasion, creating a design that seamlessly integrated curves and circular elements to define the different areas within the space. 

The design for Onyx Hair Boutique draws inspiration from the salon’s name. The letter “O” in Onyx is reflected in the circular mirrors, ceiling details, light fixtures, and even the unique serpentine salon stations. Soothing color accents with bold curved lines evoke the clean cuts and soft washes of color associated with hairdressing expertise. The color palette complements the earthy greens of fresh plants incorporated throughout the space, creating a calming and inviting atmosphere. 

The project was completed during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. Dawn Christine, Architect PLLC skillfully adapted the design to ensure the safety of staff and clients. The spacing between hair stations was increased and the stations themselves were made larger to accommodate social distancing protocols. 

Sustainability was a key consideration in the design. The serpentine salon wall was strategically positioned to allow natural light from the front windows to bathe the entire space, minimizing the need for artificial lighting. Additionally, the salon’s use of high-end, natural ingredient products reduces the requirement for additional ventilation systems. 

Dawn Christine, Architect PLLC’s comprehensive approach included a thorough analysis of the existing space, the creation of a conceptual design, and the production of detailed 3D models and animations. They also collaborated with the MEP engineering team to obtain building permits from the Town of Cary.
