The experts at Luxury Lifestyle Awards have selected DoubleTree by Hilton Shah Alam i-City as a winner of the International Sustainable Award 2022.

DoubleTree by Hilton Shah Alam i-City measures all initiatives through an internal tracking system called Light Stay. Before any events, the potential environmental impact is calculated using Hilton’s proprietary LightStay Meeting Impact Calculator. The calculation is updated at the event’s conclusion to account for the final details. Hilton can then neutralize CO2 emissions on the client’s behalf by securing carbon credits with South Pole for carbon reduction projects.

The hotel has also introduced its Meet with Purpose program. This helps clients create a meaningful change for the attendee experience, and within the communities they visit. This revolutionary program allows clients to gather more sustainably, with the hotel aiming to neutralize carbon dioxide emissions. Companies can also help nourish local communities by incorporating food donations into their programs and positively impacting the destination by including team-building experiences that benefit local charities. The hotel’s MICE series focusing on making meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions more sustainable, held its inaugural event in August 2022 with the theme of food sustainability. This series, with quarterly events, will continue to help bring the brand into a greener future.

On a day-to-day basis, DoubleTree by Hilton Shah Alam i-City’s building management system controls lighting and regulates temperature. The RCUs (room control units in every room help ensure that lights, televisions, and air conditioners are not running unnecessarily. The hotel is also the first DoubleTree in Malaysia to have bulk amenities in hotel rooms and public washrooms, eliminating single-use plastics.
