Bodega Noemia: Capturing the Spirit of Patagonian Terroir

The story of Bodega Noemia is a vivid example of how competent and creative human decisions can transform an arid land into a fertile region with ideal conditions for creating a world-class vineyard. It is the story of how an oasis appeared in the middle of the Patagonian steppe, which fell into caring hands and resulted in a wine that has been recognized by connoisseurs around the world for two decades. This year, Bodega Noemia’s list of awards was extended as the brand became the winner of Luxury Lifestyle Awards in the category of The Best Luxury Wine in Argentina.

Bodega Noemia brand is the brainchild of Italian Countess and wine producer Noemi Marone Cinzano and the famous Danish winemaker Hans Vinding-Diers. In 2001 they found an old half abandoned Malbec vineyard in the Río Negro valley, irrigated with canals, inventively designed over a century ago by Italian hydraulic engineer Cesare Cipolleti. When they made the wine from the local grapes, the result was so impressive that in 2004 they bought the property to present to the world a wine that will win the hearts of many connoisseurs around the world.

Bodega Noemia’s magnificent wines are the result of a number of factors that came to life on a small piece of land in the middle of the Patagonian Desert. The peculiarities of the local limestone-rich bedrock, the mineralized waters from the Andean snows that irrigate this soil through unique channels, the unusual climate, and the unsurpassed flair and skill of the brand founders have placed Bodega Noemia among the best Argentine and world wines.

“We are extremely excited and grateful to the Luxury Lifestyle Awards committee for appreciating the Bodega Noemia brand. We are honored to embody the uniqueness of this terroir and share with the world the best of the Río Negro Valley,” said Hans Vinding-Diers.

Today, the winery is single owned by Hans, who moved to live there with his Argentine wife Maria-Belen and their two children, Juan Andreas and Francisco. Bodega Noemia has a vineyard of 1.5 hectares, including old vineyards planted in the 1930s and 1950s. Since 2008, the production of the brand consists of a line of three wines: A Lisa, J. Alberto, and the flagship Noemia. All of them are Malbecs.
