The core concept of the project was to create a structure that gracefully extends towards the beach, embracing the existing vegetation rather than imposing on it. The design features a complex that resembles a hand reaching out to the shoreline, enveloping the plot’s perimeters to flawlessly incorporate the tropical flora. This approach not only minimizes visual impact but also enhances the guest experience by allowing nature to coexist with modern luxury. 

Architectural Merit and Sustainable Design

The architectural brilliance of the W Punta Cana project is evident in its integration with the environment. The hotel covers 60,000 square meters, yet its presence is subtly woven into the landscape through staggered building arrangements. This design also allows for the use of electric vehicles, further enhancing the sustainability of the hotel’s operations. 

The hotel’s flat, non-trafficable roof is equipped with photovoltaic solar panels to capture renewable energy, while the building’s carpentry includes RPT (Thermal Bridge Break) technology, reducing energy consumption for air conditioning by 40%. Roof insulation with polymeric material and environmental gravel further contributes to energy efficiency. Additionally, the water used for irrigation comes from the hotel’s gray water treatment plant, underscoring Zanobia Arquitectura’s dedication to minimizing environmental impact.
