Founder Vanda Everke and broker Rodrigo Santos represent Spy Manor Real Estate, an Algarve-based luxury boutique agency recognized for its curated approach to high-end residential and lifestyle-driven property opportunities across Portugal’s most sought-after coastal and inland destinations. In conversation with Alexander Chetchikov, President of the World Luxury Chamber of Commerce, they discuss the company’s perspective on luxury real estate, international clientele, cinematic property positioning, and the evolving role of lifestyle integration in the Algarve market.

Alexander Chetchikov: Having experienced the process of acquiring and developing property in Portugal as an international buyer yourself, how has that perspective influenced the philosophy behind Spy Manor Real Estate?
Vanda Everke: Going through the process personally as an international buyer gave me a much deeper understanding of what people truly need beyond simply finding a property. There are emotional, legal, cultural, and lifestyle aspects involved in relocating or investing abroad, and ultimately, people are looking for peace of mind in an unfamiliar country. Especially when you are foreign and new to the environment, having a trusted partner who can guide and support you not only during the purchase, but also throughout the after-sales process, becomes incredibly important. At Spy Manor Real Estate, we try to simplify that journey and create a more curated and personal experience around it.
AC: How do you define the role of a boutique luxury real estate agency in today’s increasingly global and experience-driven property market?
VE: In today’s increasingly global and digital world, people are searching for something that feels personal, distinctive, and emotionally engaging. Luxury is no longer only about ownership — it is also about identity, lifestyle, and experiences that keep people inspired and connected to the way they want to live. As a boutique agency, we are intentionally selective rather than trying to build a massive “me-too” portfolio. We prefer to understand the unique character of each property, how to position it properly, and equally understand our clients well enough to match them with homes and lifestyles that genuinely suit them.
AC: Spy Manor Real Estate operates at the intersection of property, film, and lifestyle. How does this broader ecosystem influence the way properties are presented and experienced?
VE: Being part of the wider Spy Manor Group allows us to approach real estate differently. Through our involvement in film production, hospitality experiences, and the ultra-luxury spirits world with Spy X, we naturally think in terms of atmosphere, storytelling, and emotion. Some properties are not just homes to us — they feel cinematic and become part of a larger lifestyle narrative.

AC: What distinguishes the Algarve today as a long-term destination not only for investment, but also for lifestyle and creative living?
VE: The Algarve offers a rare balance of safety, climate, nature, and international accessibility. But beyond that, it has a certain calm energy that attracts entrepreneurs, creatives, and people looking for a better quality of life. More and more, we see clients choosing the Algarve not just as a holiday destination, but as a place to truly build a life.
AC: Your portfolio focuses primarily on curated residential and vacation properties. What qualities do you consider essential when selecting homes to represent?
RS: We look for properties that have character, quality, and a strong sense of place. It can be architecture, views, privacy, or simply how a home makes you feel when you enter it. We also pay close attention to long-term value, location, and how the property fits today’s lifestyle expectations.
AC: How do international buyers’ expectations of luxury real estate in Portugal continue to evolve?
RS: Buyers today are much more lifestyle-oriented. They want comfort, privacy, technology, sustainability, and spaces that work both for living and remote working. There is also growing interest in turnkey properties where clients can arrive and immediately enjoy the experience without complications.

AC: Spy Manor Real Estate emphasizes a highly personalized approach to client relationships. How do you balance discretion, advisory, and lifestyle understanding throughout the client journey?
RS: For us, trust is everything. Every client has different motivations, whether it’s investment, relocation, or finding a family home. We try to listen carefully and guide them honestly throughout the process. Luxury service is often about understanding details before the client even needs to ask.
AC: What role does storytelling play in luxury real estate presentation, particularly through cinematic visuals and curated editorial positioning?
VE: Storytelling is extremely important because exceptional homes are emotional purchases. Through cinematic visuals, editorial presentation, and carefully curated branding, we try to communicate not only the property itself, but also the feeling and lifestyle surrounding it.
AC: Sustainability is becoming increasingly relevant in high-end real estate. How do you approach responsible development and long-term value creation within the Algarve market?
RS: Sustainability has become increasingly important for international buyers looking at long-term quality of life and future resilience. Portugal is in a particularly strong position compared to many European countries, with around 70% of its electricity generated from renewable sources such as solar, wind, and hydro energy. While not fully energy independent yet, the country is far less reliant on fossil fuels than many alternatives in Europe and continues to invest heavily in renewable infrastructure.
We are therefore seeing increasing demand for homes with solar integration, quality insulation, energy-efficient systems, and architecture designed to work naturally with the climate and surroundings.
AC: How do you see the future of luxury real estate evolving as clients increasingly seek experiences, cultural connection, and global mobility alongside property ownership?
VE: I believe luxury real estate will become increasingly connected to lifestyle, identity, and meaningful experiences. People are no longer simply buying homes — they are looking for environments and communities that inspire them and reflect who they are. At Spy Manor Real Estate, we also see our relationships with clients as long term. When clients work with us, they naturally become part of our wider network and may join some of the experiences and events we curate through the broader Spy Manor ecosystem in the Algarve. That sense of connection and belonging is becoming an increasingly important part of modern luxury living.

This conversation with Vanda Everke and Rodrigo Santos highlights a perspective on luxury real estate that extends beyond transactional brokerage toward a broader integration of lifestyle, culture, and long-term value. Through Spy Manor Real Estate’s curated approach and international positioning, the discussion reflects the evolving expectations shaping the premium property sector in the Algarve and beyond.
