Founded by talented Teo Yang, the prestigious South Korean design practice has received glowing recommendations from its clients throughout the globe. The Teo Yang Studio founder has been recognised as an emerging star within the increasingly sought-after world of design. His clever use of combining traditional South Korean culture within modern spaces with all the luxury of contemporary design has seen his exponential rise which is in high demand within a discerning clientele base. 

This eye for detail can be attributed to his studies in Environmental Design from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. He also holds a degree from the prestigious The Art Institute of Chicago. Following his dedicated years of study, Teo worked with lead design practices throughout the globe where he gathered key contacts from suppliers within the luxury sector. 

After achieving a broad spectrum of stand out projects, Teo returned to his native South Korea to form his own practice, taking some of the invaluable experience and a passion for design to found a dynamic design practice that’s making waves within the luxury commercial and residential sector. 

At the heart of the practice is a continued desire to tastefully create modern spaces that use cleverly chosen materials and lighting to define elegance without over complication. This has resulted in projects that effortlessly ooze decadence. 

The winning project that attention of the Luxury Lifestyle Awards was the French themed  ‘Honnêtes Gens’ restaurant. Tasked with creating a high-end luxury restaurant concept, the Teo Yang Studio used a balance of materials, clever lighting and sweeping curve details to bring to life their clients project. The ability to understand how each element interacts with the end user meant that the team were able to create an intimate dining experience while still keeping to an open plan layout.  

Patterns were key for breaking up neutral palettes, with herringbone floors used to draw the eye while honey wood panels provide the feel of a private club and adds an extra layer of warmth to the scheme. There’s a juxtaposition created by combining light and dark elements. The dark wood herringbone floor that forms a walkway is contrasted by light marble floors denoting dining and drinking areas for guests. The same dark and light balance is in play at the bar area where a high-gloss light bar is interspersed with black lighting.  

Additional art is kept to a minimum but emphasises the teams play on organic materials and forms.  

An overall contemporary air is created with simple upholstered seating in a mix of light and dark leathers. Successfully unifying all the design elements is the Teo Yang Studios clever use of lighting. Small glows are created throughout the project with lamps and under lighting, while practical lighting is curated into eye catching organic inspired circles that provide a warm ambient glow throughout. 

Overall it’s a scheme that oozes mature design and provides an effortless elegance that you would associate with a seasoned designer. Teo Yang is a force to be reckoned with who displays a design maturity that defies his youth. It is this that makes him one of the most sought after designers in South Korea and makes his practice one that is defining the look of luxury within residential and commercial properties around the region. 

Teo Yang Studios is also known for its collaborations and has partnered with many of the key design lead manufacturers from around the globe. Hand painted wallpaper experts De Gournay and luxury fashion brand Fendi are among just a few of the high-end names that have collaborated with the innovative studio. 

With a step firmly within the luxury design sector, it will come as no surprise that Teo Yang Studio were awarded the title of Best Luxury Commercial Interior Design for ‘Honnêtes Gens’ in South Korea, and we have a feeling that this will just be one of many accolades this talented team will achieve over the coming years.
