Where Luxury Meets Regenerative Hospitality

Travelers increasingly seek destinations where exceptional hospitality is complemented by a genuine commitment to environmental responsibility. At Sofitel Krabi Phokeethra Golf & Spa Resort, , this philosophy is brought to life through regenerative hospitality, combining luxury experiences with environmental stewardship and meaningful engagement with the local community.

This approach has earned the resort recognition through the International Sustainability Awards , which honour organisations demonstrating measurable environmental impact and long-term sustainability leadership. The resort was recognised for its regenerative hospitality approach, distinguished by immersive sustainability experiences, responsible environmental practices, and measurable ecosystem impact.

A Distinctive Luxury Destination in Southern Thailand

Located on Klong Muang Beach near Ao Nang, Sofitel Krabi Phokeethra Golf & Spa Resort combines French-inspired luxury with the warmth of Thai hospitality. Surrounded by tropical landscapes, limestone cliffs, and the Andaman Sea, the resort offers 276 guestrooms and suites, each featuring a private balcony or terrace.

Its location provides convenient access to many of Krabi’s renowned natural attractions, including islands, coral reefs, mangrove forests, and white-sand beaches. Within the resort, guests can enjoy Sofitel SPA with L’OCCITANE, a nine-hole golf course, Thailand’s largest free-form swimming pool, wellness programmes, and curated excursions that showcase the region’s natural beauty.

Sustainability as Part of the Guest Journey

Rather than treating sustainability solely as an operational responsibility, the resort integrates it into the guest experience. Through its Regenerative Guest Experience, visitors are invited to participate in activities that contribute to ecosystem restoration while learning more about the destination.

Experiences include beach cleanups, nature walks, rock pool exploration, marine conservation activities, butterfly sanctuary visits, environmental celebrations such as Earth Day and World Oceans Day, and creative workshops that transform discarded materials into meaningful souvenirs. The resort is also exploring additional eco-workshops where guests can create natural household products, including organic mosquito repellent and toothpaste.

This participatory approach reflects an evolving view of luxury travel, where memorable experiences are increasingly connected with responsible tourism and a deeper appreciation of the places people visit.

Responsible Operations Supporting Measurable Outcomes

Behind every guest experience is a long-term commitment to reducing environmental impact while maintaining the standards of an international luxury resort.

Environmental considerations have been part of the property’s development since its opening in 2006. More than 75 percent of the resort has been preserved as green space, while open-air architecture and natural daylight help reduce energy consumption.

The resort continues to strengthen its sustainability performance through renewable energy generation, resource conservation, responsible waste management, and the elimination of single-use plastics from guest-facing areas. Additional initiatives include water conservation, food waste reduction, recycling programmes, and converting organic waste into fertiliser and animal feed.

Progress is measured through environmental indicators, including energy consumption per occupied room, renewable energy production, water reuse, landfill diversion, recycling rates, sustainable food sourcing, and guest participation in sustainability activities. Since April 2025, renewable energy has supplied approximately 25 percent of the resort’s electricity consumption, while food waste has been reduced by more than 10 percent annually. In collaboration with local communities, more than 1,200 mangrove trees have also been planted over the past six years.

Extending Impact Beyond the Resort

Collaboration is a key part of the resort’s sustainability strategy. Partnerships with Marine Park Rangers, the Royal Thai Navy, government agencies, local schools, surrounding communities, and private-sector organisations help extend conservation efforts beyond the resort while supporting environmental education and ecosystem restoration.

Employee engagement also plays an important role, with sustainability embedded into daily operations through continuous learning and practical implementation across all departments.

Recognition That Reflects Long-Term Direction

Recognition through the International Sustainability Awards reflects the resort’s long-term commitment to regenerative hospitality, where luxury experiences are complemented by responsible environmental practices and meaningful community partnerships.

As expectations for sustainable travel continue to evolve, Sofitel Krabi Phokeethra Golf & Spa Resort demonstrates how responsible tourism can enrich the guest experience while contributing to the long-term resilience of the destination.
