Saoni Mukherjee, CEO and Co-Founder of JeeTravels OY, leads a Helsinki-based luxury travel company offering tailor-made travel packages across Finland, Lapland, Norway, Sweden, and the Baltics. Recognized through Luxury Lifestyle Awards for the Best Luxury Travel Agency in Finland, JeeTravels OY reflects a focused approach to private, personalized travel experiences in the Nordic region, in conversation with Alexander Chetchikov, President of World Luxury Chamber of Commerce.
Alexander Chetchikov: Congratulations on JeeTravels OY being recognized as the Best Luxury Travel Agency in Finland. What does this recognition mean for the company at this stage of its development?
Saoni Mukherjee: It is always an honor to be recognized as the Best Luxury Travel Agency in Finland. For the second year in a row, our vision of bringing travel dreams to reality has been validated on a global platform. This award is a great motivation for our team, particularly at this moment in our journey as we prepare to unlock new destinations and continue innovating in the space of luxury travel in the Nordics.

AC: JeeTravels OY was founded in 2019 with a focus on luxury travel across the Nordic region. How would you describe the company’s guiding philosophy today?
SM: At JeeTravels, it is all about crafting experiences. After living and travelling in Finland and beyond, I became fascinated with the Nordic idea of luxury: minimalism, sustainability, being connected to nature, escaping from the pace and demands of daily life. I wanted to showcase this to the rest of the world, giving people an opportunity to have a taste of this way of life while exploring the untouched natural beauty of the Nordics.
AC: Your company places strong emphasis on tailor-made travel in Finland, Lapland, Norway, Sweden, and the Baltics. How do you define personalization in the context of luxury travel?
SM: From my experience I have found travel to be a deeply transformative and personal experience. Luxury travel should not be about simply checking destinations off an itinerary. It is more about discovering unique and exclusive experiences you will not find anywhere else. At JeeTravels, we have curated journeys that bring together the best of these experiences the Nordics have to offer. We put our guest’s tastes and preferences at the forefront of our planning, and the packages are easily customizable to be tailor-made for each unique traveler.

AC: Many of your guests come from Indian, Middle Eastern, and Southeast Asian markets. How does cultural understanding shape the way JeeTravels OY designs travel experiences?
SM: Hospitality and luxury can mean different things across regions and culture shocks may be quite a common experience in travelling. We tailor the luxury experiences we offer to anticipate the specific needs of different guests coming from different parts of the world and cater to as many cultural nuances as possible.
AC: Private stays, dining, and transport are central to your travel programs. How do these elements contribute to consistency and trust in the guest experience?
SM: This again goes back to our commitment to personally tailored luxury. Our guests value privacy and solitude very highly when travelling in the Nordics. So we tend to work with partners who understand exceptional standards of service and exclusivity and value it as much as we do. By meticulously vetting elements like stays, dining’s and transport to fit our high standards, we ensure a seamless experience for our clients.
AC: Experiences such as Northern Lights tours, Arctic resort stays, Tallinn cruises, and icebreaker cruises are part of your offering. How do you balance destination appeal with a thoughtful travel narrative?
SM: These are bucket-list attractions that initially draw people to this region. However, we don’t believe in simply striking off items from one’s bucket list. Our work is to curate experiences that fill in the gap between destinations and tell a story. We do that by working with local guides, designing our tours to have a thoughtful pace and curating experiences to get our guests a taste of local culture and connect deeply with nature.

AC: JeeTravels OY works with local partners in Lapland and beyond, including experiences connected to Sámi communities. How do you view the relationship between luxury travel and local cultural context?
SM: It is an intimate relationship built on mutual respect and ethical collaboration. We put as much effort to respect and uphold the culture and emotions of Lapland as we do for our guests coming from different corners of the world. We envision ourselves as a bridge that connects our guests to the local context and helps them have truly meaningful, authentic experiences. We do so by partnering exclusively with the local community in Lapland and trusted local providers.
AC: Looking ahead, what standards will remain most important for JeeTravels OY as it continues to develop its position in Nordic luxury travel?
SM: We have plans in the pipeline to unlock new destinations and enter new markets but JeeTravels to me have always been more than a business. We want to show the world what luxury with soul can be. Our team will continue to work towards the exacting standards that we have set for ourselves.
