Paul Collymore: This award is a testament to the vision and confidence our homeowners had 16 years ago when they chose to invest in Saint Lucia. Today, The Landings Resort and Spa remains a vibrant property, thanks to our exceptional team members. Our high level of service and hospitality is a reflection of our dedicated and outstanding staff. This recognition is a significant achievement for us, highlighting our commitment to excellence and the strength of our community at The Landings Resort and Spa.  

LLA: The Landings Resort and Spa is known for its amalgamation of Caribbean charm and stylish luxury. How do you maintain this balance while continually enhancing the guest experience? 

PC: At The Landings, maintaining our unique blend of luxury and Caribbean charm is fundamental. This balance is rooted in our architectural design, which remains fresh and inviting. Annually, we invest in our property through careful capital expenditure plans, ensuring our rooms and public areas are always in superior condition. We’ve enhanced our dining experiences with upgrades like The Callaloo Beach Bar and Grill, offering Caribbean-inspired cuisine with a modern twist. Currently, we are transforming The Palms into Suru; meaning togetherness. The Beach Club restaurant is also set for an upgrade to further elevate our dining offerings. Looking ahead, our five-year plan focuses on continual maintenance and enhancements, reinforcing our five-star, four-diamond appeal.  

LLA: With such a rich array of activities available, from thrilling adventures to serene relaxation, how do you ensure there is something for every type of guest at The Landings Resort and Spa? 

PC: We pay close attention to customer feedback and engagement, using data from weekly surveys and even our weekly manager cocktail parties where we engage with guests to gain an understanding of their experience and preferences. We cater to families, honeymooners, and solo travelers, ensuring our activities meet their needs. We stay current with trends in health, wellness, cuisine, excursions, and events. By aligning our offerings with the destination’s event calendar and Saint Lucia Tourism Authority updates, we provide curated experiences. For instance, we recently hosted members of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup games and will have the Caribbean Premier League and English series T20 matches soon. Our efforts ensure a personalized experience for every guest.  

LLA: The Landings Resort and Spa offers a unique private yacht marina. Can you tell us more about this feature and how it enhances the overall experience for your guests? 

PC: At The Landings Resort and Spa, our private yacht marina is a unique feature that enhances the overall guest experience. Guests arriving by yacht can enjoy the convenience and exclusivity of berthing at our marina. Our facility includes 17 pontoons, with accommodation for vessels ranging from 12 to 52 feet. Our marina’s 6-foot depth ensures safe and easy docking, providing peace of mind for our guests. The marina is not just a docking facility but an extension of the luxury and attention to detail that defines The Landings Resort and Spa. This exceptional amenity offers unparalleled convenience and exclusivity, making the arrival and departure experience as luxurious as the stay itself.  

LLA: Dining at The Landings Resort and Spa is described as a hyperlocal epicurean experience. How do you source ingredients and create menus that reflect the local culture and cuisine of Saint Lucia? 

PC: Saint Lucia offers a rich variety of local products that inspire our culinary offerings at The Landings Resort and Spa. From our national dish linked to bananas to a wide array of ground provisions, we prioritize sourcing these ingredients locally. We work closely with local farmers, forecasting demand to ensure a steady supply year-round. Supporting local businesses is integral to our approach, fostering tourism linkages through the use of local products such as cocoa, sea moss, and organic fruits and vegetables abundantly available on the island.  

LLA: The spa at The Landings Resort and Spa includes the Caribbean’s only female-focused spa program. Can you discuss the importance of this program and how it fits into your overall wellness offerings? 

PC: Our female-focused spa program is pivotal in addressing the unique wellness needs of women. Designed specifically for women, it offers treatments and services that support reproductive health, including menstrual health, fertility, and menopause. We recognize that women experience stress differently than men due to various biological factors, and our therapies are tailored to alleviate these concerns. Addressing hormonal imbalances, which can impact mood and skin health, is also a key focus. Additionally, we provide fitness and nutrition programs that cater to women’s specific goals and nutritional needs. This holistic approach enhances our wellness offerings, ensuring that every woman receives personalized care and enjoys a fulfilling spa experience.

LLA: Sustainability and local community engagement are becoming increasingly important in the hospitality industry. What initiatives has The Landings Resort and Spa implemented to support environmental sustainability and the local Saint Lucian community?

PC: At The Landings, we prioritize sustainability and community engagement through several key initiatives. Our Landings Charitable Foundation plays a pivotal role in this effort. It allows us to support local projects within a half-mile radius of our resort, funded by discretionary guest donations. Our committee reviews numerous requests and identifies groups and projects to support, enhancing our corporate social responsibility and community relationships.  

In addition, we actively maintain public areas near the resort, frequently used by both locals and visitors, as part of our environmental cleanup campaigns. We are also pursuing Green Globe certification, with expected completion by October, which will help us implement best practices in sustainability across our operations. This certification underscores our commitment to environmental stewardship and community support, ensuring that we contribute positively to both the local ecosystem and the Saint Lucian community.
