AODA Interior Design has earned the title of Best Luxury Office Interior Design in Taiwan 2024 by Luxury Lifestyle Awards for their remarkable renovation of a 50-year-old residential property into their design studio, AODA. This transformation exemplifies the company’s deep-rooted philosophy of integrating aesthetics with functionality, sustainability, and cultural resonance, blending Eastern beauty with modern design. 

The renovation of this aging residence into a sophisticated design space posed its challenges, primarily due to the original layout. However, AODA embraced these constraints with creativity and vision. They removed multiple partition walls to open the space, improving circulation and creating a fluid workspace. One of the most significant changes was the kitchen transformation, which was cleverly revamped into a staff lounge, further enhancing the functionality of the studio. The previously imposing front gate and solid fence were replaced, creating a more welcoming and accessible entryway for visitors. 

Partnering with landscaping studio Green Humor, AODA incorporated an array of pot plants on the front porch, creating a tranquil, zen-like atmosphere that complements the modernized design. The greenery reflects AODA’s ambitions to merge nature with architecture, contributing to a calm and inspiring environment that fosters creativity and productivity. The plants add aesthetic appeal while symbolizing the brand’s philosophy of integrating simplicity with detail to influence emotions and enhance the quality of life. 

AODA’s design is a stunning homage to their core belief that interior spaces should transcend mere beauty, offering spaces that resonate emotionally and culturally. The studio reflects a fusion of modern elements and subtle Eastern aesthetics, inspired by the design team’s own family history, childhood memories, and cultural experiences. The use of materials such as dark wood, brass, and eco-friendly paint nods to traditional Eastern imagery while incorporating modern, minimalist tones. By combining these elements with curved shapes and natural beauty, AODA has successfully created a space where the past and present coexist. The result is an office that is contemporary and evocative of Taiwan’s rich cultural history. The entrance to the studio features a striking Chinese-style round window, which serves as a symbolic bridge between the interior and the local community. This traditional design element fosters interaction and connection, blurring the line between inside and outside spaces. Inside, the meeting room continues this theme with lantern-inspired glass lights, round windows, and modern traditional chairs. Glass tabletops help reflect light and brighten the dark-toned space, while permeable iron cabinets act as partitions, offering both privacy and openness without obstructing the natural light. 

Using these materials, AODA Interior Design has transformed historical elements into modern expressions, creating a space that is both functional and aesthetically striking. The design also emphasizes sustainability, incorporating energy-efficient choices like light-flowing partitions that reduce daily energy consumption.
