Alexander Chetchikov: Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Hotel is celebrated for its stunning location on Guardalavaca Beach. How does the hotel utilize this setting to enhance the guest experience, and what feedback have you received from visitors about the natural surroundings?
Kevin Maran: Guardalavaca Beach truly provides a spectacular backdrop. We’ve made sure that guests can easily access the beach and enjoy incredible ocean views from many of our rooms and public spaces. The feedback we’ve received has been overwhelmingly positive—many guests highlight the peaceful atmosphere and the stunning scenery as key parts of their experience. The natural beauty here is an integral part of what makes our guests’ stays unforgettable. From the moment you arrive, the sea is right there in front of you—whether you’re checking in at the lobby or enjoying a drink at the bar with views of the ocean. We also host special events, like weddings, right on the beach, allowing guests to embrace the full splendor of the location.
AC: With such diverse amenities, from an aquatic park for children to an exclusive Indian restaurant, how does the hotel ensure it meets the expectations of both families and couples looking for a romantic escape?
KM: We’ve thoughtfully curated a range of amenities and experiences to cater to the diverse needs of our guests. For families, the aquatic park and mini club provide a fun, safe environment for children, while parents can relax and enjoy family-friendly services nearby. For couples, we offer more intimate experiences—our exclusive Indian restaurant, private spa services, and an adults-only section of the hotel offer a peaceful retreat. Additionally, our beachfront area with butler service allows couples to indulge in ultimate privacy and luxury. By offering a mix of experiences, from casual to exclusive, we ensure every guest’s stay is tailored to their preferences.
AC: What do you believe sets Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Hotel apart from other luxury beachfront resorts in Cuba?
KM: What truly sets us apart is the perfect balance of luxury and accessibility, all within an idyllic setting. We prioritize even the smallest details in service to ensure our guests experience not just comfort, but also genuine warmth and hospitality. Our direct access to the stunning Guardalavaca Beach, complemented by unique offerings such as our Indian and Italian restaurants, enhances the overall experience.
Additionally, our highly popular Asian restaurant stands out as a guest favorite. Our commitment to eco-friendly practices and a culture of personalized service further distinguishes us in Cuba’s luxury market.
AC: Sustainability is a growing concern in the hospitality industry. Can you share some insights into the hotel’s efforts to balance luxury with environmentally responsible practices?
KM: Sustainability is key for us. We’ve implemented several eco-friendly initiatives without compromising the luxury experience. For example, we use energy-efficient lighting and focus on water conservation. We source locally grown produce to reduce our carbon footprint and have reduced plastic use by offering reusable amenities. We also encourage guests to take part in conservation efforts during their stay. By aligning our luxury services with sustainable practices, we aim to provide an exceptional experience that’s also environmentally conscious.
AC: The tourism and hospitality industry in the Caribbean and Europe is highly competitive. How does Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Hotel adapt its marketing strategies to appeal to an international audience?
KM: To appeal to international markets, we focus on showcasing what makes our resort unique: the blend of cultural heritage with our distinctive essence, modern luxury, and the natural beauty of Guardalavaca Beach. Our marketing is tailored to each region’s preferences—whether it’s promoting family-friendly activities for European guests or romantic getaways for Caribbean travelers. We also collaborate
with international travel agencies and leverage social media to reach a wider audience and highlight our most distinctive features.
AC: As the Managing Director of MGM Muthu Hotels in the Caribbean overseeing sales for two diverse regions, what trends do you observe in guest preferences, and how do they vary between European and Caribbean travelers?
KM: European travelers often seek cultural experiences and history. They enjoy a blend of relaxation with opportunities to immerse themselves in the local heritage. Travelers from the Americas, in contrast, tend to prioritize luxury, relaxation, and easy access to beautiful beaches. At Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Hotel, we offer both cultural tours and high-end amenities, allowing us to cater to both groups.
We’re also noticing a growing trend toward wellness and eco-conscious travel in both regions, and we’re excited to incorporate these elements into our offerings.
AC: The role of technology in enhancing guest experiences is growing. What technological advancements do you see shaping the future of the hospitality industry, and how is Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Hotel leveraging these?
KM: Technology is becoming increasingly important in hospitality, from mobile check-ins to AI-driven recommendations to personalize activities. Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Hotel can enhance its guest experience by integrating advanced technologies such as smart rooms that allow guests to adjust their settings for maximum comfort, mobile apps for easy check-in/check-out and digital keys. By using guest data, the hotel can offer tailored experiences, while eco-friendly technologies like energy-efficient systems can attract environmentally conscious travelers. Interactive digital displays and real-time feedback tools can further improve guest interaction and satisfaction. Embracing these innovations will help the hotel stay ahead of the competition and provide a seamless, personalized, and modern experience.
AC: With the rise of experiential travel, how do you see the hospitality industry evolving to create more personalized and immersive experiences for guests in the coming years?
KM: As experiential travel becomes more popular, the focus will shift from simply providing a place to stay to offering authentic, immersive experiences that allow guests to connect with the local culture and environment. At Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Hotel, we’re already creating itineraries for our guests, which might include personalized tours, or cultural workshops. We also see a growing emphasis on
wellness and mindfulness, with travelers looking for rejuvenating experiences. The future of hospitality is about understanding each guest’s personal preferences and creating meaningful, one-of-a-kind experiences that go beyond the usual.
