Harry`s Restaurant – the Best Place to Spend Happy Hour in Bermuda
Bermuda is a bright sunny place, where it is rather hard not to be happy. But there is a special time when the common state of happiness reaches the peak – it’s Friday evening or the so-called happy hour. The working week is done, and everybody is looking for stress relief. Luckily, there is also a special place for having a perfect rest and enjoying the sophisticated gastronomic experience – the famous Harry`s Restaurant and Bar.
Harry`s is not just a business project, it is a tribute to their father Henry Carlyle Darrell “Harry” Cox, whom the restaurant is named after. Harry was an important person not only within the local community, but a world-renowned treasure diver and talented raconteur. He and his family made a valuable contribution to the cultural development of Bermuda. Harry Cox passed away in 1997 and in 2008 Harry’s Restaurant opened, soon becoming recognized, claiming many awards including the winner of Luxury Lifestyle Awards, in the category of The Best Luxury Restaurant in Bermuda. The restaurant was audited personally by Alexander Chetchikov, CEO & Founder of Luxury Lifestyle Awards; and confirmed that Harry`s meets the highest criteria of the luxury restaurant and formed the basis for this review.
Harry`s is located at The Waterfront, a lifestyle complex overlooking the panorama of Hamilton Harbour. Accessed from Waterloo Lane, Harry’s cannot be missed by its iconic marlin statue adorning the outside patio. The traditional décor of a steakhouse is highlighted by the dark wood paneling, white tabletop arrangements, and brass fixtures. The stylish dining room boasts a softly lit interior, fresh flower compositions, and brown leather chairs.
The sophisticated clientele can sit in intimate conversation, at any of the tables that are carefully placed throughout the establishment. The private dining room is available for up to 10 guests, a one-way glass wall separates this room from the main dining room and a temperature-controlled cellar with 2,000 bottles of wine, from around the globe, surround the guests. Harry`s comprises 54 seats in the main dining room, 36 seats in the bar & lounge areas, 10-seat private room and a terrace overlooking Hamilton Harbour and The Waterfront Marina.
The restaurant offers a spectacular menu expertly designed by the Head and Sous Chefs that include high-quality, fresh organic ingredients full of rich textures and a wealth of flavor. The owner`s favorite meal is Harry`s Classic, that includes savory Shrimp Cocktail, Petite Iceberg Salad, Strip Steak, Tender Tiny Peas, and Jessica’s Cheesecake. At Harry`s the beef goes through a 21-day aging process providing a succulent and flavorful steak. The dry-aged steaks are the chief of the restaurant`s dishes together with a variety of locally caught line fish, Amari Sea Bass, seared scallops with black truffle purée and exceptional vegetarian options.
Harry`s is rich with Martinis; the mixologists create the Lychee and the Pomegranate Martini, Espresso and White Chocolate Martini, the Lemon Drop Martini and others; but the bar menu doesn’t end in Martini! You can brighten up Friday`s Happy Hour and the weekend with a fabulous selection of wines, sparkling wine, champagne or draft craft beer. And if you have a very special occasion, you should experience Harry’s Special Rum, a secret blend by the famous Gosling family, stored in an oak-aged barrel behind the bar.
