Gran Hotel Inglés: Unsurpassed Luxury Regardless of Time

No matter how high the demand for the latest trends and technologies is, the noble charm of antiquity always remains relevant. When the Gran Hotel Inglés opened its doors in 2018, it was the newest luxury hotel in the capital of Spain. But at the same time, it was the oldest luxury hotel in the city. Timeless sophistication and exclusivity are the constant features of this property. It is no wonder that this mansion became the winner of Luxury Lifestyle Awards in the category of The Best Luxury Hotel in Madrid, Spain.

The hotel’s consummate location puts you right in the heart of Madrid. The iconic neighborhood Barrio de las Letras is a perfect starting point to visit the most famous places in the city within several hours. You can take a walk to Puerta de Alcalá, Puerto del Sol, see the legendary Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, or quickly get to the Atocha Madrid train station.

Gran Hotel Inglés welcomed its first guests in 1886 – it was the first luxury hotel in the city with 110 rooms, shared bathrooms on each floor, elevator, lighting, and steam heating. However, the number of rooms decreased to 58 in 1964, but each of them now had its own bathroom. In 2013 the property was closed for renovation to reopen in 2018 and impress the world with its fresh and modern Art Deco-inspired design.

The renovated hotel boasts with its glorious 19-century façade and strikingly gorgeous interior reflecting contemporary trends. At the same time, the hotel has preserved silent witnesses of its rich past in the form of a stylish table with a vintage typewriter, pictures of the old hotel on the walls, original chandeliers, and other heartwarming details referring to the hotel’s past.

Today Gran Hotel Inglés offers to its visitors 48 rooms designed to provide a relaxing ambiance and a sense of timeless luxury. Each room has a wooden floor, walls with leather panels, light fittings made of brass, bronze furniture, and everything needed to create an elegant and peaceful environment for the guests. They also can enjoy aromatic coffee from the coffee machine in the room, sip craft beer or taste other drinks and snacks from the minibar. The in-room amenities include high-speed Wi-Fi, Bluetooth speakers, and 50-inch TVs. Bathrooms are equipped with marble showers and freestanding tubs. Here you will find professional L’Occitane products and hairdryers. The Meller Suite offers its guests the delights of Jacuzzi tub and private terrace. In the Presidential Suite, you’ll have an opportunity to make a cocktail of your own in the old-fashioned bar.

The famous restaurant Lobo 8, one of the main landmarks of Gran Hotel Inglés, provides an updated take on traditional Spanish cuisine and a cozy atmosphere of a private club. Most of the wines available in the lobby bar LobByto are Spanish, but you can also order original and classical cocktails, coffee, beer, or tapas here.

The experts of Luxury Lifestyle Awards commended the excellent results of the renovation, warm welcoming ambiance, and friendly staff and top-level facilities at Gran Hotel Inglés. The basement of the hotel holds a fitness center with Technogym equipment and an exquisite Égoïste spa with Anne Semonin products used for high-level beauty treatments.
