Situated in the beautiful surroundings of the five-star boutique hotel Palacio Can Marques, The Merchants – Steak & Grill offers both indoor and outdoor dining opportunities for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There’s a stylish interior created by well-known Spanish designer Aggi Bruch and for relaxed al fresco eating the stunning secret garden in the grounds of the 18th-century building is shaded by palm, cherry and fig trees.   

Owned by Five Senses Collection, the restaurant has reinvented the classic New-York style steakhouse with Irish chef Stephen Sullivan producing an extensive menu that presents a combination of fresh seafood and premium steaks. Inspired by dishes from around the world, he is dedicated to offering a fun eating experience with tasty shareable options all made using the best quality fresh ingredients. 

To start with, seafood lovers can choose from a wide array of delicacies including oysters, prawns and calamari or indulge in the ultimate seafood platter to share which includes crab claws and legs, prawns, mussels and razor clams. There’s also a tasty selection of salads and burgers to satisfy including the luxury of a lobster roll. But the restaurant’s main attraction is most definitely the grill and the world-class cuts of meet and freshest of seafood which are prepared on it. 

Guests can choose between sirloin, ribeye, fillet and wagyu beef and a selection of classic sauces including peppercorn, vernalise, chimichurri, Cafe de Paris butter and blue cheese. For a special treat there’s the famous reef and beef – the tastiest of ribeye served with half a lobster with garlic butter, fries and salad. Or diners can try something even more decadent with the aptly named extravaganza that is ‘The Beast’. An indulgent combination of a 1.3kg tomahawk steak is served with two king crab legs, fries, salad and all the sauces to sample. There’s also hake, chicken, secreto Iberico and even a vegan cauliflower steak. A tempting selection of side dishes completes the savoury offering with delights like truffled mac & cheese, fries with truffle and parmesan and grilled cabbage with anchovy mayo.  

The desserts provide a refreshing finish to the exceptional menu with a range of ice cream and sorbets, pineapple carpaccio, lemon tart and s’mores to choose from as well as a selection of cheeses. A set brunch menu is also available which includes favourites like eggs Benedict and smashed avocado on toast with eggs. 

Finally, the wine list offers a comprehensive selection of wines from around the world including some particularly high-end ones from both Spain and France. There’s also an innovative selection of signature cocktails to enjoy.  

All adding up to a truly delightful dining experience in the most elegant of settings. So it’s no wonder that The Merchants – Steak & Grill has been specially selected by the panel of experts at Luxury Lifestyle Awards as a winner in the category of Best Luxury Steakhouse in Spain 2021. A well-deserved accolade for a culinary star on the Majorcan restaurant landscape.
