Barrie Ho and His Team Conceive Lavish Architecture and Interior Design Spaces

Established in Hong Kong in 1999, Barrie Ho Architecture Ltd has created an unmatched reputation for itself as the go-to architecture and design firm in Asia, and abroad. Founded by Barrie Ho, the company and Barrie himself have won multiple awards for their incredible work. The firm has won 2 Luxury Lifestyle Awards in 2022, for Best Luxury Architect Studio in Hong Kong and Best Luxury Mixed Use Architecture for The Acceleration Block in QianHai, China.

Barrie Ho holds the title of being one of the most influential architectural designers of his generation, practicing in Asia today. Amongst his many accolades, Ho is a Fellow Member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA), and a member of the Australian Institute of Architects (RAIA), the Architectural Institute of Japan (AIJ), and the Architectural Institute of Korea (AIK).

Together with Barrie’s directors Ms. Angie Pi, Maggie Mak, and their team of associates, the staff at BARRIE HO Architecture Interiors Ltd spend time with each client and establish their exact needs and requirements regarding their architecture and design projects.

Ho has proudly won over 160 major international design awards from Dubai, the USA, the UK, Shanghai, Beijing, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, the Asia Pacific, and Hong Kong. The agency’s portfolio showcases its wide range of noteworthy, international design projects ranging from commercial, retail, residential, landmarks, outdoor spaces/landscape, hospitality, institutions, and community facilities, hotels, exhibitions, clubhouses, and theme parks.

The architecture firm has a well-established design philosophy: “unification is the act of becoming a single unit, whilst diversification is the act of introducing variety. Unification of Diversification is the attempt to sustain a balance between these two seemingly opposing extremes, searching for unified design solutions through a diverse array of contemporary architectural experiments.”

Their most recent publication ‘Architecture without Adjectives’ strongly provokes their manifestation which encompasses a wide spectrum of project natures. Their prerogative is to accept all challenges but address the intrinsic architectural problems with a holistic yet innovative design solution.

The project that earned the firm one of its Luxury Lifestyle Awards is The Acceleration Block, Extension (Phase 2) of QianHai Creative Entrepreneur Hub. The project was completed in August 2021.

The Acceleration Block occupies the iconic corner site and redefines the new entrance and axiality with a new circulation pattern. It is an iconic machine representing phase 2 as well as a major environmental symbol for energy saving.

The Acceleration Block is therefore conceived as a comet, solidly and solemnly set on the corner as a metaphor for the new representation of the Creative Entrepreneur Hub and a metaphoric example of Green Architecture, as is the entire QianHai Development.

The outer skin is made up of free-form triangular perforated metal panels as a shading device to cool down the building and does not create any visual obstruction to the interiors. Almost 20% of energy is saved due to this design choice. The inner skin of the curtain wall aims to provide “Hand-Level” manipulated openable windows, which is an attempt to achieve cross ventilation for all seasons, to reduce the energy consumption prevalent in conventional air conditioning.

It’s no surprise that BARRIE HO Architecture Interiors Ltd has earned 2 LLAs. The firm continues to use its knowledge and skills in every new project that they take on. Learn more about Barrie and his team via their website: http://www.barrieho.com/
