Aimilia Kanta, Founder of Femme Fanatique, leads an Athens-based brand established in 2014 with a focus on handmade tango shoes, bridal shoes, evening shoes, made-to-order footwear, and selected fashion items, including purses and handbags. In conversation with Alexander Chetchikov, President of World Luxury Chamber of Commerce, Kanta discusses the brand’s standards, design perspective, and approach to craftsmanship as Femme Fanatique is recognized through Luxury Lifestyle Awards in the luxury brands category.
Alexander Chetchikov: Femme Fanatique began with tango shoes and has since expanded into bridal, evening, and made-to-order creations. How would you define the brand’s identity today?
Aimilia Kanta: Femme Fanatique was born from the belief that a high-heeled shoe can harmoniously combine elegance, comfort, stability, exceptional quality of materials and craftsmanship, and timeless design, while enhancing the femininity of the woman who wears it. Today, the brand’s identity is built upon handcrafted production, meticulous attention to detail, and the creation of unique designs that do not simply follow trends, but express personality and emotion. Our goal is to create shoes that accompany women through some of the most important moments of their lives, giving them confidence, comfort, and the feeling of wearing something truly special.

AC: How has tango influenced your understanding of footwear design?
AK: Tango taught me that beauty alone is not enough. A shoe must work in harmony with the body, offering balance, support, and freedom of movement. The demands of dance led me to place great emphasis on ergonomics and comfort without ever compromising aesthetics. This philosophy remains the foundation of every Femme Fanatique design to this day.
AC: What role does craftsmanship play in maintaining the standards of Femme Fanatique?
AK: Craftsmanship is at the heart of our brand. Each pair is carefully handcrafted by skilled artisans using selected high-quality materials and paying close attention to every detail. I believe true luxury lies in quality, authenticity, and the time devoted to creating something exceptional. This approach allows us to offer products with character, lasting value, and timeless appeal.
AC: How do you approach the concept of luxury within your sector?
AK: For me, luxury is not synonymous with excess. It is expressed through quality, personalization, and a genuine understanding of each customer’s needs. It is the opportunity to own an item that has been thoughtfully created especially for you and that you will cherish for years to come. At the same time, luxury is a complete experience. It is the feeling that every detail, from the design process to the final presentation, has been thoughtfully considered with care, dedication, and a sincere commitment to the person who chooses it.

AC: Femme Fanatique has collaborated with designers such as Katia Meneghini, Alex Kotoulas, and Christina Martini. How do these collaborations contribute to the brand’s evolution?
AK: Creative collaborations are a source of inspiration and growth. Every designer brings a unique perspective and creates new opportunities for experimentation and innovation. Through these partnerships, we enrich our creative identity while remaining faithful to the values and aesthetic principles of Femme Fanatique. I feel truly grateful for these collaborations and look forward to those that will come in the future.
AC: Customer experience is often central to luxury brands. How do you view the relationship between the product and the way it is presented?
AK: I believe the experience is just as important as the product itself. From the very first interaction to the delivery of the final creation, every stage should reflect professionalism, care, and consistency. We want our clients to feel that they are part of a special journey and that they are acquiring something truly personal and unique—something they will enjoy every time they wear it.
AC: Femme Fanatique currently operates in Greece while looking toward further growth in Europe, the United States, and Asia. How do you view the future?
AK: My vision is to see Femme Fanatique establish a strong international presence while preserving the handcrafted character and values that define us. There is a growing global appreciation for products that embody authenticity, quality, and individuality, and I believe this creates significant opportunities for Greek luxury brands like ours. At the same time, I want our growth to be meaningful, sustainable, and fully aligned with our values, without ever compromising on quality or the uniqueness of our creations.

AC: What leadership principles guide your work as Founder of Femme Fanatique?
AK: I am guided by perseverance, authenticity, and a constant desire for growth, without compromising on product quality or the overall experience we offer our clients. Building an independent luxury brand requires daily dedication, adaptability, and unwavering belief in your vision, especially during challenging times. The financial crisis and the pandemic tested both the resilience of the company and my personal endurance. Nevertheless, I followed my instincts and my vision, worked tirelessly, and made difficult decisions. Today, I see Femme Fanatique steadily strengthening its position within the world of luxury handcrafted footwear and confidently pursuing the international recognition that I believe it deserves. This recent international award is a meaningful affirmation that dedication to quality, craftsmanship, and authenticity continues to be recognized and valued in today’s luxury landscape. At the same time, I consider human relationships, collaboration, and respect for everyone who contributes to the brand’s journey to be of utmost importance. For me, success is measured not only by awards and recognition, but also by the trust we earn and the lasting relationships we build with our customers.
