Nestled in Serralunga d’Alba, the company takes pride in being the producer of Barolo and the exquisite wines of the Langhe, nurturing 120 hectares of organic vineyards that embody Italy’s first Storytelling Village.
Fontanafredda’s wines are a reflection of its identity, values, and rich history. For them, wine transcends as a communal experience, embodying shared conversations and harmonious beliefs. Garnering the title of European Cellars of the Year in 2017 by Wine Enthusiast and numerous accolades, Fontanafredda intertwines history, traditions, and terroir into every wine, acting as artisans fostering the interaction between vine, soil, and the hand of man.
Their mission is rooted in organic farming and a sustainability project called the Green Renaissance, crafting sustainable wines that symbolize renewal. Collaborating with farmers, they champion awareness of cleaner agriculture and promote a shift toward organic farming for the benefit of future generations. Notably, their grapes are meticulously harvested by hand.
With 120 hectares of organic vineyards, an annual pressing of 5,000,000 kg of grapes, and 2,500,000 liters of Barolo in constant refinement, Fontanafredda stands as the largest private producer of Barolo. Their annual output represents approximately 6% of the entire appellation, creating the most important DOC and DOCG wines in the Basso Piemonte area. They offer iconic classics such as Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d’Alba and Barolo Classico, alongside with unique single-vineyard productions like Barolo Vigna La Rosa, Barolo Paiagallo Vigna La Villa, and Barolo Lazzarito Vigna La Delizia.
The Fontanafredda portfolio ensures unwavering quality across Barolo, Barbaresco, Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto, and a variety of white and sparkling wines, like Alta Langa, the piedmontese Classic Method. Enthusiasts are invited to savor the essence of the land, wrapped with care, passion, and an unwavering commitment to the Green Renaissance.
