Founded in 1890, Ingenio San Antonio (ISA) has become a symbol of innovation and sustainability in Nicaragua’s agro-energetic sector. As a distinguished mill owned by Nicaragua Sugar Estates Limited, ISA has earned global acclaim for its commitment to responsible agricultural practices and environmental stewardship. In 2024, ISA’s Adelante Initiative was honored with an International Sustainability Awards, recognizing its significant contributions to sustainable agriculture and worker welfare.

ISA’s legacy is built on a foundation of quality and modernity. It was the first mill globally to achieve certifications from Bonsucro and Fair Trade USA, setting a benchmark in labor, social, and environmental standards. With a vision to lead the agro-industrial sector in efficiency, quality, and sustainability, ISA strives to generate prosperity for its employees, communities, and the environment.

The Adelante Initiative has introduced transformative programs, such as the Rest, Shade, Hydration, and Sanitation (RSHS) program, which has notably enhanced worker health and productivity. The initiative’s impact extends globally, influencing industry standards and contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
