Choosing Personalised Stationery: 5 Tips

It may seem odd in this age of digital communication for someone to use handwritten letters. But when you think about it, writing notes in the traditional way adds more value to the message. For several years, people have become used to the impersonality of digital communication. And the younger generation may not even understand why letters need to be handwritten. You can easily do the same via text or email.

In today’s perspective, writing a letter by hand is something you rarely see. But you would not believe that receivers of handwritten notes treasure them. There will always be something extra special when you touch a letter, primarily if the sender uses personalised stationery.

It may be the digital age, but many people still love the look and feel of paper stationery. Also, many occasions still make a handwritten note feel worthy and special. An email can never be a reflection of someone’s style.

If you want to choose personalised stationery, here are some tips.

  1. Know your options

Choosing personalised stationery requires considering the envelopes, colour, monogram, borders, and fonts. Look at the samples and take note of the things that attract your attention. Do you want pale paper instead of brighter colours? You may like an elaborate font.

  1. Have a feel for it

Touch the paper samples. Consider how each type feels. Are you drawn to heavy cotton paper? Or do you prefer something with a smooth or eggshell finish? In the past, most people used letter sheets to write long letters. But today, most people choose correspondence cards. They are more versatile as you can write short notes.

  1. Pick the right colour

While considering colours, think about how the paper and the lettering will play against each other. The most basic (and considered conservative) is a creamy off-white. Light blue and shades of green are good choices but consider different colours, such as tobacco. This colour can make the ink pop out. For something sophisticated, silver and pale grey are good options. So, too, brown and orange, or copper and pale green. Give your personalised stationery some class with a tone-on-tone effect, which uses two shades of a single colour.

  1. Think of your audience

Consider the purpose of having personalised stationery. It would be a good idea to use your full name instead of a monogram, particularly if you intend to use the stationery for business purposes. Plus, the former is suited to the times. Likewise, choose classing letterings, like san-serif Gothic, shaded Roman, or English script.

  1. Consider the finishing touches

When ordering personalised stationery, think of the finishing touches. For example, your return address should be on the envelope’s flap. Use numerals for the numbers. Make the envelope more special by lining it with tissue in a shade that goes well with your colour scheme.

Choose a style that reflects your personality. Think of the purpose, as you would probably need more than notecards. Consider embossed notes or fold notes, as well as thank-you cards, correspondence cards and letter sheets.
