Akl Architects, a leading Lebanese architecture practice recently won a Luxury Lifestyle Awards. The firm has been recognized as the Best Luxury Office Interior Design for Law Firm Office in Saudi Arabia 2024 for its exceptional renovation of the Latham & Watkins office in Riyadh. 

The renovation project, completed by Akl Architects, transformed the law firm’s office into a contemporary, refined workspace designed to meet the needs of its prominent legal team. This redesign followed the firm’s expansion, which saw it take over an entire floor previously shared with a company specializing in electronics for the past decade. 

The revamped office is now a central hub for some of Saudi Arabia’s most distinguished lawyers, specializing in capital markets, corporate law, private equity, banking, and litigation. Akl Architects focused on creating a collaborative, efficient environment that seamlessly blends functionality with aesthetic appeal. 

At the heart of the renovation are two central hubs—multifunctional spaces that house workstations, cafeterias, and service areas. These hubs are strategically positioned to promote communication and interaction. Surrounding them are individual offices for partners, associates, and other staff, designed to ensure ease of collaboration. 

A standout feature of the renovation is the preservation and enhancement of the office’s original wood wall separators. These were reimagined as elegant strip wood wall elements, introducing a modern touch while maintaining the warmth and character of the original design. 

The central lounge features an eye-catching lighting concept that appears to slice through the ceiling, creating a striking visual centerpiece. This lighting design enhances the lounge’s ambiance, making it a welcoming space for informal meetings and relaxation. 

Akl Architects’ award-winning work on the Latham & Watkins office is one of many successful projects across the Middle East and beyond. The firm recently secured third place in the Holcim Award for Sustainability in the Middle East and Africa 2023.
