In this exclusive interview, we sit down with Mr. Igor Raicevic, General Manager of Grand Seminyak, to explore the secrets behind the resort’s success, his insights into luxury hospitality, and his vision for the future of this celebrated destination.
Luxury Lifestyle Awards: Congratulations on Grand Seminyak being awarded the title of Best Luxury Beachfront Resort in Bali! What does this recognition mean to you and the resort, and what do you believe sets Grand Seminyak apart from other luxury resorts on the island?
Igor Raicevic: Thank you! This award is a tremendous honor for me and the entire Grand Seminyak team. It’s a recognition of our commitment to hospitality excellence, and it validates the hard work and passion that goes into creating unforgettable experiences for our guests. What sets us apart is our focus on personalized service combined with authentic Balinese touches. We blend modern luxury with cultural richness, allowing our guests to feel truly connected to the island while enjoying world-class amenities.
LLA: With 59 spacious suites, a beachfront infinity pool, and exclusive dining experiences, how do you ensure that the resort delivers a personalized and memorable experience for each guest?
IR: Personalization is at the core of what we do. From the moment a guest books, we begin gathering insights to tailor their stay—whether it’s dietary preferences, special occasions, or even curated activities. A key part of our team’s success comes from knowing our guests by name, anticipating their needs, and ensuring that every detail of their stay feels bespoke. Whether it’s a private dinner on the beach, arranging cultural excursions, or creating spa rituals designed just for them, we aim to make each experience as unique as the individual.
LLA: Could you share more about the curated experiences at the resort, particularly those that allow guests to engage with Bali’s rich culture and natural beauty?
IR: A major aspect of the guest experience at Grand Seminyak is the exposure to Bali’s culture and natural beauty. We offer curated experiences such as guided temple tours led by local experts, Balinese cooking classes, and traditional dance performances right at the resort. These experiences provide guests with a unique connection to Bali’s heritage and landscape while maintaining a high level of comfort and luxury.
LLA: As the General Manager, what has been the most rewarding part of your journey in the luxury hospitality industry, and how have your experiences shaped your leadership style at Grand Seminyak?
IR: The most rewarding part of my journey has been the ability to create unforgettable experiences for guests while simultaneously developing my teams to reach their full potential. Luxury hospitality is about the finer details, and seeing both guests and staff thrive because of the environments we create is truly satisfying. My experiences across different countries and cultures—from Montenegro to Cambodia, Sumba, Anguilla, The Carribens, Africa, and now Bali—have deeply influenced my leadership style. I’ve learned that adaptability, empathy, and clear communication are key. At Grand Seminyak, I lead with a collaborative approach, empowering my team to take ownership of their roles while ensuring that we maintain the high standards expected of a luxury resort. This has allowed us to foster a sense of pride and accountability within the team, which ultimately reflects in the guest experience.
LLA: The resort’s wellness offerings, such as the rooftop spa, play a significant role in enhancing the guest experience. Could you tell us more about the unique treatments and wellness philosophies you incorporate at the resort?
IR: Our wellness philosophy revolves around holistic healing and balance, inspired by both modern techniques and traditional Balinese wisdom. At our rooftop spa, guests can indulge in signature treatments that incorporate local ingredients like volcanic clay and coconut oil. We also offer wellness programs that blend yoga, meditation, and personalized detox treatments, all set against the serene backdrop of the ocean. The idea is to provide a sanctuary where guests can reconnect with themselves, rejuvenate, and leave feeling refreshed both physically and mentally.
LLA: Sustainability is becoming increasingly important in luxury travel. How does Grand Seminyak incorporate eco-friendly practices without compromising the luxurious experience it offers?
IR: We’ve implemented eco-friendly practices such as reducing single-use plastics, sourcing local and organic ingredients for our restaurants, and using energy-efficient systems throughout the property. We also work with local artisans to promote traditional craftsmanship, reducing our carbon footprint while supporting the local economy. Our goal is to offer luxury with purpose—creating a seamless experience where sustainability enhances, rather than detracts from, the sense of indulgence our guests expect.
LLA: Bali is a competitive market for luxury resorts. What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced in maintaining Grand Seminyak’s leading position, and how have you overcome them?
IR: One of the biggest challenges is staying ahead in a market where guest expectations are continuously evolving. To overcome this, we focus on innovation and staying true to our values of personalized service and authentic Balinese experiences. We invest in ongoing staff training and foster a culture of creativity within the team, encouraging new ideas to elevate guest experiences. Additionally, we keep a close eye on trends in wellness, sustainability, and technology to ensure we are offering fresh and relevant experiences while maintaining our core identity.
LLA: Looking to the future, what is your vision for Grand Seminyak, and what can guests expect in terms of new developments or experiences at the resort?
IR: Looking to the future, my vision for Grand Seminyak is to elevate the guest experience while preserving the intimate, boutique charm that defines us. We aim to create a resort where every guest feels they are part of a unique journey, tailored specifically to their preferences. To enhance this experience, we are excited to develop our day club, which will significantly enrich our food and beverage offerings and provide new, vibrant opportunities for our guests to enjoy their time with us.
