BANYAN Restaurant

Banyan is a child of love. Love of creating, love of hosting, love of sharing.

It was found by Asli and Cem Pasinli. Banyan was born when Asli and Cem decided to follow their passion for food and realize their dream of opening a restaurant.

Asli is an Economist from Bosphorus University with an MBA degree from the University of Illinois in USA. She held various management titles with The Coca-Cola Company in the USA, Austria and Turkey. She has been full time managing the restaurants in the last 10 years. Cem is an industrial engineer with a degree in MBA from the University on Illinois, USA and currently a CEO of a local diary company in Turkey.

Banyan was named after the Banyan tree, which is an indian fig tree that represents power and immortality in Asia. When the branches of the tree touch the ground, new roots are formed making the tree stronger. The restaurant, like the tree it is named after, gets its power from the roots of different cultures. It is the first Asian Fusion restaurant of Turkey that blends Thai spices with world cuisine. Its slogan “food for the soul” refers to their philosopy about food: a meal can actually stimulate your five senses. The eating experience promised at Banyan aims to feed your soul as well as your body by providing a unique setting, creative way of serving, inspiring blends of tastes complemented by good mood music.

Banyan is located on the terrace of a historic building overlooking the famous Bosphorus with a breath taking view. The terrace was built from scratch and turned into a restaurant by the Pasinli couple 11 years ago.

All the serving plates of Banyan are hand made an specially designed by a ceramic artist Hande Bilten.

Banyan has received 10 different rewards in its’ 11 years including “The Best Ethnic Restaurant’ (by Time- Out), Best Fusion Restaurants (National Gourmet Jury), Healthiest Menu, Trip Advisor Rewards of Excellence (2013 and 2014, top 10% in global customer ratings).

The Pasinli couple now runs 4 boutique restaurants under the Soul Group umbrella, all with the same vision of providing an eating experience and enriching the soul.


Why BANYAN Restaurant

Cuisine (diversified menu): Banyan creatively blends western world cuisine with Asian spices. The menu includes unique recipes to Banyan such as Orange Beef (made with the combination of 20 different spices), Salmon with miso sauce and wasabi potatoes and some Asian classics such as green curry beef, Dim-Sum and a wide selection of sushi and sashimi.

Banyan’s key service staff has been with Banyan for over 8 years. The head of service and the head of kitchen has been with Banyan since the opening. They are all industry professionals some of them with 20 years of experience. The restaurant has a 80 seating capacity yet employs a high ratio of waiter per customer (8 waiters on duty).

The facility was decorated by famous Turkish decorators Mustafa and Handan Oney in line with the Asian concept. Bambus, wood, Asian antique pieces enhance the mystic ambiance.

There is an open terrace on three sides of the roof of a historical building with the breathtaking view of the famous Bosphorus and the bridge that merges Asia&Europe.

During winter, a uniqe open air fireplace on the terrace truly differentiates itself and deserves its mission of providing an eating experience.
