Tarek Barhoum believes that participation in the Luxury Lifestyle Awards gives a significant marketing boost. Especially, it is important when new branch offices have just been opened.

In your opinion, how does participation in the Luxury Lifestyle Awards influence company’s development?

Our participation in Luxury Lifestyle Awards at this specific timing will benefit DCA with a significant marketing boost, especially that we have just recently opened a new branch office in Dubai. This will be a chance for us to further expose our work before the Emirati market specifically, as well as the global one, since Dubai is considered to be an important hub in the region.

To your mind, are there any opportunities for the local luxury companies to reach international recognition?

We are firm believers that local luxury companies could reach international recognition should their work be of high quality and should they be given the right opportunities. After all, we have experienced this first hand in 2009 upon winning the World’s Best Interior Design and in 2010 when DCA won the World’s Best Architecture for the International Residential Property Awards.

What is “luxury” to you? How do you define it in your sector of business?

“Luxury” is a broad term. In our line of work, we personally look at it as an epitome of what we would like to achieve with our designs, through the thorough planning of spaces, the refinement in the selection of materials, and in the elegance of putting up the end product all-together and presenting it to its end users.

Is it challenging for you to compete with the companies of your own country? Do you feel ready to enter competition on international level?

We always welcome tough challenges and fair competitions, and we enter them with the one goal of winning them. We proudly say that we have won all the local and international competitions we have entered to this very day, each one raising the bar for us more and more as we go along.

Lately the phrase “affordable luxury” is widely used, do you think that it is appropriate for your business industry?

I go back to your third question to confirm that “affordable luxury” does exist in our business industry. It depends, as I mentioned, on the combination of a well-designed layout and a nice selection of affordable high-quality materials.

What are the 5 pillars does the luxury brand like yours build its policy on?

Thorough understanding of clients’ needs, smart planning, elegant selection of materials, accurate scheduling, precise supervision of construction.
